I quickly pee, not even giving myself the chance to ponder throwing up, just exiting the bathroom and washing my hands. I walk back down to his bunk, where Wes is kicked back.

“Good girl.” He comments when I come back to him. I take the bottle from him and take a long sip. He pulls out his vial and does a bump. “I’m sorry I left you there.”

“Skylar and Ben started a pissing war trying to make each other look bad.” I shrug taking a sit next to him.

“Yeah. It was getting hard standing there while they all looked at you like you are a piece of meat.”

“I’m all bones.” I laugh.

“Dark.” He says with a laugh. He takes the bottle from me. “I wish you could stay the night.” He takes a sip.

“Me too.”

“Another night, maybe.” He puts his arm around my shoulder and pulls me against him.

“Highly unlikely. Sue will throw a fit if I don’t have my nightly sandwich and Xanax.”

“Xanax?”

“So, I can sleep through the night.” I say, shrugging.

“They gave me that after I tried to kill myself.” He pulls on a strand of my hair. “How mad would you be if I kissed you right now?”

I shake my head. “Not mad at all.”

He puts the bottle between his legs and turns my face so I’m looking at him. He lowers his lips towards mine, staring into my eyes before I hear footsteps. He quickly pulls away, and I turn my head forward.

“Hey.” Nicolas says, coming by us. “Don’t mind me. I’m just grabbing my weed.” He winks.

“We are just friends.” Wes retorts.

“Yeah, sure, okay. I really don’t care one way or the other.” He walks past us again. “Ben might, though.” He shoots Wes a look. “Want some?” he asks, holding up a joint.

“No thanks.” Wes answers audibly for both of us, but he glances over at me.

I shake my head.

“Uppers, not downers.” Nicolas says. “Your eyes are the size of dimes.” He nods at Wes. “See you around Abbey.” He winks again before walking back towards the common area.

Wes just shakes his head with a smile.

“The Ben thing.” I start.

“Don’t worry about it.”

“I should probably go.”

“I’ll walk you back to your bus.” He gets up.

I stand up and he leads us off the bus. I notice Ben look my way as I pass. Skylar looks my way, too, from the other side of the bus. I look down as Wes and I make our exit. This is why I kept to myself. Less drama.

Wes lights a cigarette as we walk the short distance to my bus.

“Want to come in?” I ask as we stand outside my bus.

“No.” He says with a smile. “I mean, yes, I would really love to come in, but I shouldn’t.”

“Okay.” I say softly.
