Silas looked over at them. “What? I can still hold my own.”

“Yeah Dad, we are well aware, but you won’t be alone in kicking his ass.” Tate growled. “The line will form behind you. I think we all want a piece of him.”

“Um,” Marge spoke up. “There might be more than just one.”

They all looked over at her.

Chapter Five

“How do you know that?” Silas asked her.

“Well, yesterday I had a little scuffle on the county road.”

“What?” Silas looked upset.

Raising her hand, she explained, “A big guy in a little car.” She chuckled as she remembered his face when she told him to go back to the circus. “I shot his knee out and told him to move along.”

“Oh, man!” Silas looked fit to be tied. “You had to shoot him? Midge! And you are laughing about it? How could you have sat at dinner with me last night and not told me about this run in?”

“I’m sorry, darlin’, I think he was just looking for trouble? I still couldn’t be sure he was a part of this. But my point is this guy on the video, was tall and thin. Not the same guy I saw on the road.”

“We are gonna find these fuckers and crush them!” Silas snarled.

“You got that right, Gramps,” Creed said as he cracked his knuckles.

Later that night, Silas, Creed and Harry were sitting quietly in the loft of Silas’s barn while everyone else was hiding at different points of the barn. Jack, Tate, Midge, Lola and Cletas were in the house and the enforcements were all in place. The women were well protected and the men were ready for the coming fight.

The barn door creaked as it was opened just enough to allow a man to slip inside.

Silas looked over at Creed and raised his finger to his mouth in a hushing motion. They watched as the shadow moved closer to the goat pen.

Rambo began to bleat as he moved back and forth in front of the others.

The shadow slipped closer as Rambo bleated even louder. He began to hit the side of the pen but the shadow didn’t take the hint. Just as he got to the pen, he pulled a knife from his belt and reached for the door to open the pen.

Rambo came right for him and the man jumped back to avoid his horns.

Silas smiled as he watched. He knew from his own experiences just how hard those horns were.

The man sidestepped him just in time and headed to the pen again. This time, Rambo was ready for him. As soon as he unlocked the gate, the ram charged for him and he followed through when the lock broke. The man turned to run but he didn’t get far as Rambo hit him from behind.

Slamming into the wall, the trespasser fell to the floor. He tried to scramble away but Rambo stomped on him. His hooves were hard and they slammed down on the man’s back and his legs as the man tried to scramble away from him. He finally got back up on his feet but he had lost the knife he carried and when the man stopped to try and find it, Rambo charged at him again. This time, he caught the man in the lower groin area and the man shouted before he sank to the floor holding his package.

Rambo stood back and watched him carefully. The man just rolled around and cried on the floor.

Creed shook his head and said, “We need that goat when we go to war.”

The other men chuckled as they came down the loft ladder.

Silas, Creed and Harry walked over to greet him.

Harry went over to where his knife laid and kicked it away from his reach. Then he walked over to where the knife had landed and reached down to pick it up.

Silas just stared at the crying loser rolling around on the hay strewn floor and shook his head. “Well bucko, seems like you met your match didn’t you? Ole Rambo here protects his herd well enough.”

Creed grabbed Rambo by the horns and wrestled him back into the pen. Rambo bleated again and then walked back to protect his nannies.
