He chuckled, low and caustic as he stroked his middle finger in as deep as the fabric would allow. “Hell, you are riper than you have a right to be.”

His thumb sending surges into my clit, he pumped his middle finger along my slit, lazy, like the breeze across the beach.

“Hmm.” His breath brushed hot against my neck. “You didn’t take on any lovers, did you? You wouldn’t be this ready to pop if you had.”

I dropped my face back toward the table as another brutal build hit me, making me pant. Still, I managed enough air to spit out a, “Fuck you,” that didn’t sound nearly as vicious as I intended it to.

“Yeah, well, you took that option away from me, you conniving bitch.”

Another orgasm slammed into me. One after another and I could barely keep my body upright.

More pumping into me. A fourth finger joining in on the party.

Bloody fucking hell.

I uncurled my fingers from his arm and grabbed the edge of the table with both hands, trying to push myself away from him.

“You make a move away from me and I’ll slice that little old lady over there in two.”

“You”—gasp—“wouldn’t.”

He leaned over me and laughed. Low and menacing andevil.Even with the fire coursing through my body, the chill of the sound sent my blood to ice.

His laughter stopped abruptly. “You don’t know a thing about what I’ve become.”

His fingers pressed hard onto my folds and he forced another orgasm to rip into me, this one so fierce my fingernails cut through the vinyl tablecloth to make imprints into the wooden table underneath.

“You’re a fucking liar.” I ground out through clenched teeth. “You don’t want anyone to know you’re here any more than I do.”

“Try me.”

His thumb assailed my clit and another orgasm seized me, this one wrecking my body so thoroughly I wouldn’t be able to walk straight for days and the smug bastard knew it.

Perfect time to strike.

With will forged directly from the heat of the humiliation searing through me, I jerked my right arm up and slammed my elbow straight into his nose, sending his head flying back.

Jumping to my feet, I shoved him away from me with my foot and hand, and then turned and sprinted out of the restaurant.

I ran.

Fast. Using the actual speed I was born with, I disappeared through the sleepy village of Corinth set on the western coast of the island. I wasn’t in the higher echelons of speeders, but with even average speeder power, I had the ability to be in one place one second and gone the next.

So fast, I never looked back, only concentrating on avoiding hitting cars and people and buildings as I wound my way out of the town. Away from people. Away from the nuclear reaction that was going to explode between us if Damen caught up to me.

Four miles out of the village, I veered into the tiny beach house I’d rented that sat lonely at the crest of a small cove surrounded by tall cliffs. I had to grab what I needed to survive.

Sword. Dagger around my calf. A waterproof go-bag with passports and cash that I shoved my phone into. All I needed and I was out the door only to see Damen bearing down on me from the main road. Wrath pumping his arms and legs. Death in his eyes.

I darted to the left and ran around the house. Damen had me cornered and I wasn’t sure which men he’d brought with him, where they were, or even what powers they had if he’d brought more than just the human guards he’d oftentimes utilized. A wall of them could be descending on me in that very moment.

The ocean was my best chance.

I wasn’t the fastest swimmer, but I had time to swim around the rocky outcropping and then get back to shore. Then I could leave him in the dust.

Kicking off my shoes as I ran down the packed sand, I slung my sword’s baldric and the strap of the go-bag over my head, and I dove into the froth of the waves.

I swam underwater as long as I could, then popped up, my arms and legs stroking as fast as they could, fighting against the waves converging at the edge of the small bay.
