Sounds good. We just landed, so it will take a minute to taxi and everything. Thank you for coming to get me. I can't believe I'm in California! I've never been here before. I love you too!

I made quick work of going through the airport because I didn't have checked luggage.

I found a wall to lean against at the pick-up area.

I had left the house in Memphis thinking it was a normal day, and there I was in California without a change of clothes. I felt as though I was riding a wave of nervous anticipation as I went outside to meet Owen. In that moment, I was actually thankful to John for showing up so that I could be pushed into Owen's arms.

Owen texted, and I began looking for his vehicle. There were quite a few cars that could have fit the description. He told me to look for a black Mercedes sedan. I looked at the brand name of every vehicle, even things that weren't black. I was staring at car after car, looking for the one that had the right look and brand. And then there it was… a car pulled up and stopped right in front of me.

The back door opened and I stared down at Owen Atkinson. He was holding the door and regarding me with an excited smile. His perfect white teeth were gleaming, and his face scrunched like he was just so excited he couldn’t stand it.

"Get in!" he said.

"I have no bags," I replied as I plopped down next to him. I sat down and closed the door in one motion.

Owen leaned forward and pressed a button. "We're ready. She's in the car. Thank you."

"Are we headed to your house?"

Owen looked at me with a questioning expression, and I shrugged. "Are you hungry or anything?" he asked quietly.

I shook my head. I hadn't eaten lunch, but I wasn't hungry. I was too preoccupied with other things.

"No, thank you." He turned to me with a smile after he sat back. "You came in scrubs," he said.

"I have nothing but the clothes on my back. I need to stop at the store for deodorant and soap and a toothbrush."

He pulled on my arm and leaned in, burying his nose in my neck and taking a deep smell of my body.

"Don't…" I said, squirming because it tickled.

"Don't what? I missed you?" He pulled me closer, tugging me onto his lap. He nestled his face under my jaw and I felt his lips on my neck as he moved.

Excitement coursed through my body. "I missed you too," I said, steadying my breathing and relaxing into his grasp, feelingwarm. "I just stink. I worked this morning and then I went straight to the airport."

He kissed my neck. "You don't stink, you smell amazing," he said, letting his open mouth touch my neck softly. "Are you scared? Were you scared of that guy?"

"No. I'm not scared. I'm kind of thankful he came by because your dad basically begged me to come here."

"I'm glad he did. I needed you. I need you here with me. I was missing you too much."

I pulled back to look at him. His blue eyes were only inches from mine. He was a star—everything about him was perfect. He was so wonderful, this love was so wonderful, that I forgot all of my insecurities. I smiled and leaned in, kissing him on the lips, tasting his mouth, tasting the hint of salt on his skin.

"I was missing you, and I need to be here, too," I said. His mouth was perfection and I was mesmerized by the way it moved when he talked. He smiled, and then kissed me again.

The kiss was instantly passionate. He was insatiable, moving, adjusting, pulling me onto his lap where we could be comfortable. Our lips met again and again. We held onto each other's faces and kissed time after time like we just couldn't stop.

"Stay with me," he said. "Don't go back until I go back."

"Okay," I agreed, nodding.

Owen was my man… the person I would spend the rest of my life with. He wanted that with me, too. I could feel how much he wanted it by the way he kissed me.

"Where am I staying?" I asked, when he finally pulled back.

"With me."

"I was thinking I could get a hotel near you."
