“Where are we going?” I ask, already moving, grabbing my purse and phone. “Who was that?”

“My big brother needs us at the clubhouse. We’ve got to roll,” Everett answers, granting me a quick glance and continuing on the way to the elevator.

“Does this have anything to do with what happened yesterday?” I join him, my nerves pricking.

“Don’t know all the details yet, babe, but he told me I needed to get my ass there and bring you with me. Whatever it is, it’s important ‘cause that fucker hasn’t once called my cell. I didn’t even know he had the number.” We step into the elevator, and I can hear the terseness in his voice. Though I’m not sure, I thinkthere’s a bit of something else there. I just don’t know what that something is.

I don’t speak again because I don’t know what else to say. I mean, what do you say to that? Beast hasn’t spoken to his brother in years, and then Everett showed up at the garage to drop me off. Then, this morning, Beast stayed to talk to him in order to make sure I’m safe. Now, the Beast is calling his brother’s cell. Yeah, I suppose it would bother me a bit. But I want both men to reconnect and have the bond brothers should have.

Beast has already done so much for me, and I realize that now, I want to do the same for him.

The bell of the elevator draws me out of my thoughts, and I step out on the first floor only to come to an abrupt stop. Standing there is none other than my mother with both men, yet again.

“Cordell,” Everett grumbles in greeting, stepping in front of me. “To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?”

Out of the corner of my eye, I notice security is already making their way toward us. Those men were personally hired by Everett. He owns the whole building. Well, his family does. How these three got as far as they did surprises me.

“You need to come with us, Bristol,” my mother snaps. “Right now.”

“I don’t think so.” Everett motions to the men approaching. “Trace, please have my cousin and these other two removed from the property.”

“Sure thing, boss,” Trace states and jerks a chin toward his team.

“You don’t want to get involved in this,” Cordell warns. “Bristol needs to come with us, or things will get ugly, if you know what I mean.”

My breath catches in my throat at the threat Cordell’s voice holds.

Maybe I should go with them to stop all of this from happening.

“Go ahead and give it your all, Cordell.” Everett chuckles darkly. “Now, if you’ll all excuse us, my assistant and I have an appointment to attend to.”

Positioning himself, blocking the three pains in the ass from getting close to me, he guides me away from them and out to his car. Everett opens the door for me like the perfect gentleman, but I can feel the tension rolling off him. The moment the door closes me in, he darts around the hood and gets in behind the wheel, wasting no time in shoving the key in the ignition. He pulls away from the curb with a squeal of tires.

“Beast is going to be pissed, but we’re going to have to take longer to get there to make sure we’re not followed,” Everett mutters.

“He’ll understand,” I say, trying not to let what just happened affect me, no matter how much it actually does. “That is after we tell him what happened with Trouble one, two, and three showing up. Granted, it wasn’t really anything.”

“It was something,” Everett huffs, clenching the steering wheel tightly. “Cordell wasn’t playing around. If he wants things to get ugly, he only has to make a phone call, and he and I both know it. He might not be related to the Swedish relatives, but that won’t stop him from reaching out. He, unfortunately, knows the family secret and will use it against us if need be.”

Well, that’s just unfortunate.

This could get bad. Very, very bad, and that scares me to death.

Everett pulls into the clubhouse parking lot nearly an hour later. We drove through town, circled around, and got on one road, then another, before finally going down the one leading to the clubhouse. He barely gets the car in park before my man is storming across the lot, face one of fury.

I open the door and step from within the depths of the sports car, rush to Beast, and wrap my arms around him. The look on his face scares me, and I don’t want him to murder his brother.

“Watch out, baby,” Beast growls. “I need to kill my little brother.”

“No.” I hold on tighter and press my face to his chest.

“Sorry, we had to make sure we weren’t followed after we got a visit on our way out,” Everett remarks, coming around his side of the car.

“Fuck, they came faster than I thought they would.” Beast tightens his hold around me. “Let’s get the fuck inside.” All but lifting me off my feet, Beast guides me into the clubhouse, his brother right behind us.

I’m surprised by how many of Beast’s club brothers are standing around, faces hard, looking ready to battle.

“What the fuck took so long?” Reaper demands, coming forward, eyes scanning over me. “You okay?” Concern fills his expression for all of a split second.
