“Where are we going?”

“The cabin. I’ll drive.”

“Why don’t we both drive?” I don’t like the idea of being without my car in case I need a quick escape. I can't possibly be dumb enough to offer to play with his dick again… but just in case, I need an out.

“I’m not sure what condition the road to the cabin is in, and I don’t want to risk getting yours stuck when I know mine can handle it.”

I hate that he makes an excellent point.

“What about my car, though?” I shove my arms in my coat sleeves as I rush after him, flushing when I feel his hand on the small of my back as he ushers me out the door.

“It’ll be fine in the parking lot. We’ll get it once the roads open.”

After a quick stop at my car to grab my bag, I settle into the passenger seat of his truck, trying not to freak out. We’ve lived in the same town for two years and I never saw the inside of his truck. Now I’ve been in it twice in as many weeks, both timesafterI practically begged him to let me give him a blow job. Now we have to spend the night in the same house. Can my life get any more awkward?

Chapter 9

Deacon

Thegoodnewsisthe cabin has a few “luxury” features like a wood stove and indoor plumbing, just like Paul promised. The bad news… It's one big room, with one bed, and since I’m too big for the couch—and I won’t ask her to take it—it looks like we’ll be sharing.

“There’s only one…” she starts.

“Yeah,” I sigh. “At least it’s a king.”

Crossing the room I drop my bag on the floor—I always keep a spare set of clothes with me just in case—and kneel in front of the stove to see what it will take to get a fire going.

“Mind if I clean up?” Tiff asks from somewhere behind me.

“Check to make sure there’s hot water first.” I grab a few logs from the hearth and stack them inside the iron beast, deliberately keeping my eyes focused on the task at hand so I don’t think about Tiff on the other side of the door. Naked.

As a tiny flame starts to kiss the logs I close the door of the stove and collapse onto the bed.She might move. That’s probably for the best. If she isn’t so close maybe I can stop thinking about her. At the same time, I can't imagine a town without her.

It might be torture seeing her without being able to touch her, but not seeing her at all sounds worse. The best part of my day is when I get a glimpse of her. My pulse starts racing, making me feel alive. The rest of the time I’m just going through the motions, but for those brief moments when I catch the sway of her hips as she walks, the bright smile she gives the customers, I forget how mundane my life has become. How bored I am with it all.

Lost in my thoughts, it takes me a second to realize there’s a muffled sound echoing through the room. Sitting up I swing my head around, searching for the source. There’s a TV in the corner, but it’s off, and I don’t see a radio or even walkie talkie that might be picking up a signal. My eyes land on her bag, resting on the floor next to the foot of the bed, and as I lean closer the sound gets louder.

It’s voices, that much I’m sure of, though I can’t tell what they’re saying. I hesitate briefly, not wanting to invade her privacy, but when I’m pretty sure I hear the wordcockI give in to my curiosity.

Lying on top of her clothes is a sleeping mask, sort of like what they give you on airplanes, although not nearly as flimsy. Actually, this one is pretty robust considering it’s got tiny speakers in it, and the universal symbol for Bluetooth stamped on the side.A sleeping mask that connects to your phone? Who knew?

As I turn it over in my hand, studying it, I realize I can make out the words.

“How does this… I’ve never done anything with someone I can’t touch before.”

“Well, lucky for you. I’m pretty versed in the matter. But for it to work, you’re going to have to trust me.”

“I wouldn’t trust you if you were the last man on Earth.”

“Well, to you, I kind of am. So, what’s it going to be, Princess? You want to spend eternity alone in this house, constantly reminded of how you died, or have some fun and maybe lighten up enough to move on?”

“Okay. Let’s give it a go. But you have to answer a question first.”

“Shoot.”

“Why were you thinking about me when you were feeding?”

Feeding? What the hell kind of podcast is this?
