“Do you feel the things you do to me, doll?” he asks in a raspy voice as he looks at me.
I gasp softly as I roll my hips, grinding against him. Even after the long night last night, I still want more. I long for his touch; I don’t think I’m ever going to get enough of the way he makes my body feel.
His mouth captures mine in a fiery kiss as one of his hands slides beneath my shirt. His other hand grips my ass, his fingers digging into my flesh. Ivan rolls my nipple between his fingers while his tongue teases mine. My fingers slide into his soft hair, pulling slightly as we both moan. Our kiss grows more passionate. He moves slowly and intentionally, turning me into a breathless, throbbing disaster.
The ringing of his phone breaks us apart.
“I have to take this,” he says, his voice solid.
Ivan lets me sink to the floor, his gaze darkening as he takes a step back and pulls his cell phone out of his pocket. He walks into the other room as my phone starts buzzing.
My brain cells are a tangled mess as my chest rises and falls rapidly. I press a hand to my chest, trying to slow my breathing before pulling out the phone.
Hazel’s picture flashes up on the screen as I smile and sit down on the couch. Hardly a day goes by when we don’t talk, it’s always great to chat with my best friend.
“Hey,” I say, smiling as I grab my cup of coffee. I lean back into the dark floral cushions of the couch.
“Hey.” Hazel sighs and a door closes in the background. “I don’t have a long time to talk today. I wanted to call you before you found the hard way.”
My chest constricts. “Found out what?”
“I was going through some of Mom’s things on Ivan. I wanted to find out if there was anything that you should know before the wedding. I really shouldn’t be telling you this right now.”
I sit up and run my hand through my hair. ‘It’s okay, Hazel. Just tell me whatever it is. I’ll make sure that nobody knows it came from you.”
“Someone in Ivan’s inner circle is working with the police against him. Mom didn’t have a name written down. It was only listed as the Orlov informant. I know you love him, and I want to make sure you’re both protected. You can’t tell anyone that I told you though.”
Guilt tugs at me as I take a deep breath. I told Hazel that I had been with Ivan for almost a year. I emphasized to her that I loved him and that we were only keeping our relationship a secret because her mother is a cop.
Now she’s risking her relationship with her mother for a man she thinks I love.
I’m a terrible friend.
“Thank you for telling me.” I lean back against the couch and stare up at the glass ceiling. Fluffy white clouds drift overhead.
Apart from the news I just received, today is almost a perfect day.
“I don’t know who it is. I wish I could be more help, but I have to go. Mom’s cruiser just pulled into the driveway and she’s going to be looking for me.”
“Thanks again, Hazel. I’ll talk to Ivan about it.”
As the call ends and I put my cell phone back in my pocket, I wonder who could be after him. From the people I’ve met so far, his brother seems the most likely person.
Is his brother turning against him?
Although I don’t know Nik well, this makes the most sense. Ivan has success and power and maybe he wants that for himself now.
I run my hands over my face, my stomach is churning like I'm on a wild rollercoaster ride. As I look at the covered plates on the table, I lose the urge to eat.
I don’t know how to tell Ivan that someone from his own family is trying to rat him out.
Chapter 12 - Ivan
When I go back into the room, Sophia is fiddling with her phone. I could hear her talking to someone while I was out of the room, but I didn’t know who it was. I didn’t catch most of the conversation, but I could hear the warmth in her voice.
The green-eyed monster of jealousy rears its ugly head as I slink back and stand before her with my arms folded across my chest.
She looks up at me with her brown doe eyes, her lips parting slightly. I bite back a groan as I think about pulling out my stiff cock and sliding it between those full lips.
