It’s not what I want, but it is time to think about it.

Thoughts run through my head as I try to imagine what a wife and a perfect married life would mean for me. She would have to be obedient, as the wife of the Pakhan. I could not have her undermining me in front of my men. She would have to be willing to live by the rules of the Bratva and forsake the life she had before if it did not fit into those rules.

A woman will have expectations of me that I can hardly fulfill. She would want my attention and my time, more than just the material things I can offer her. That’s a bad idea, regardless of what Nik thinks about it.

“A wife is only going to add more complications to my life. We have a lot to focus on. While Roman might have dealt with Charlie Fletcher today, I doubt that it is the end of it. We’re likely going to have a bigger problem on our hands. The man is too proud and too stupid to give up while he’s ahead.”

Nik rolls his eyes, his mouth pressing into a thin line. “I think you’re making a mistake. Look at the women here. You don’t have to love her; you just need one who respects you and has your children. You know, keep the heirs coming.” He smirks.

I pinch the bridge of my nose and look away from him before I lunge across the small space separating us and smack the back of his head. “Enough already, I don’t want to talk about it now. I’m not interested in settling down just yet. A woman for the night will do me. So, drop it.”

“Okay, okay.” He chuckles, slaps my shoulder, and walks over to the dance floor.

My gaze drifts to a stunning woman in a tight sage satin dress, as she approaches the bar. One side of the hem climbs high up her toned legs, clinging to her toned thighs. The other side dips just below her knee. She is smaller than some of the other women around her, but her self-confidence makes her taller than them all.

As she talks to one of the men near the bar, she plays with the low, draping neckline of her dress. Her finger trails up the tiny string that holds the dress up. My cock swells in my pants, straining against the zipper as I picture how easy it would be to snap those straps with my teeth.

The fabric would fall to her waist, revealing the swell of her ample breasts. I can already feel her curvy hips beneath my hands as I work my way down her hourglass figure.

Well, well she might be fun for a night. Or two, if I’m feeling generous.

I can’t take my eyes off the curve of her ass as she sits down on one of the stools at the bar. The rest of the people around her start to filter away as she sips on her brightly colored drink.

As if she senses that I'm watching her, she turns slightly and lets her gaze wander around the club. When her eyes land on me, traveling down my body and up again, the pounding of my pulse echoes over the booming bass of the song that is currently playing.

Fuck she is young and gorgeous.

The corner of her full lips curves upwards and everything around her becomes blurry. Her dark eyes remain locked with mine for a few seconds before she stands up and walks away. Shesways her hips, emphasizing her curves even more in the tight dress.

I can’t take my eyes off her as she heads for the hall that leads to the private rooms. She doesn’t look back as she walks away.

When she disappears from my line of sight, the urge to follow her courses through me. I want to be the one to show her a good time for tonight. Based on that little smile she gave me; she wants that too.

She’s too pure and innocent to be in a club like this. Why is she flirting with me? I better go and find out.

Chapter 3 - Sophia

My knees are weak as I turn my back to the man watching me. It didn’t take much to get Ivan’s attention—just a short dress and pretending that I didn’t have a care in the world. A seductive walk and a smile sent his way, was enough to reel him in.

With a deep breath, I open the door to the private room and step inside, taking in the expensive beige leather couch and the glossy marble floor. Gold and red accents fill the room as dim lights glow from the crystal chandelier overhead. There is a small bar in the corner, stocked with as much alcohol as a couple would need for the night.

The music is muffled, but there is a speaker in the corner and a remote on the gilded table in the center of the room. A television hangs just above the bar, its black screen reflecting the surroundings.

My heels click against the floor as I make my way to the couch. I sink into the cushions and take another sip of my drink.

Pretending that I don’t hate Ivan for what he did to Lily is going to be hard, but I must do it for her. He must fall for my act. I need to be able to wrap him around my finger before destroying him.

I wipe my sweaty palms on my dress before going over to the bar and grabbing two glasses and a bottle of whiskey. I don’t know if that’s his preferred drink, but I’m going to need it to calm my nerves.

The amber liquid sloshes against the sides of the thick glass tumbler. I pour a healthy amount into each one before pulling a small vial out of my cleavage.

My body feels numb as I pull the cap off the vial and pour the clear poison into one of the glasses. With a straw, I stir the drink, watching the whiskey swirl.

There is no way that I’m going to be able to pull this off. Hell, I don’t think he’s even going to follow me in here. There are a hundred beautiful women in the club tonight. I’m just another face in the crowd.

But I saw the hungry look in his eyes. The kind you only give a person when you want them. It spoke of all the things he would do to me if he had the chance.

He must come. I need to take revenge for Lily.
