Page 2 of Innocent Revenge

I slow to a stop out in the office’s entrance hall.

Who do we have here?

The round ass up in the air – while the woman’s head is down by her feet, shuffling in her bag – is a very nice surprise. No man can resist a woman bending over, even when she is wearing a long, unflattering skirt like this one.

My mood is lifting the closer I get. The carpet muffles my approach.

“Can I help you?”

She shrieks. Stepping forward, she stumbles over her bag. Oh dear me, I have to grab her hips to stop her from tumbling over. She straightens. The scent of strawberries follows the cascade of red curls tumbling down her back. I suppress a groan as her delectable ass skims against my crotch.

Reluctantly, I step away; the last thing I need is sexual harassment allegations. Finbar would love that, would love to see me in front of Human Resources, once again.

Slowly, the petite owner of the ass turns and my smile drops.

“Caitlin?”

“Oh! Hi, Mr Byrne!”

Pink spreads across the girl’s pale skin, highlighting herfreckles.

“I didn’t recognise you there, jey-sus… um…” My gaze drifts from her blushing face past her plump little pink lips that she’s biting nervously, down to her… She’s not flat-chested anymore. There are clearly outlined small swells under her white buttoned-up shirt. “I haven’t seen you in forever. You’re… um… all grown-up?”

Her flush deepens. “Thank you. I-I’ve been away for school.”

That’s right, Caitlin Keenan, the younger of Finbar’s two children, was sent away to attend an all-girls school, and school has definitely done her good.

“How old are you now?” I ask, praying she’ll not say fifteen.

“I’m eighteen.”

“Eighteen? Wow, you’re a woman. And a pretty one too.” Her nervous laughter is close to a giggle. It reminds me how she used to have a little girl’s crush on me when I went into partnership with her father. I flash her a grin. “I bet all the boys are running after you, asking you out on dates.”

“Oh, no,” she replies, wide-eyed and twists her hands in front of her. “I’m in an all-girls college, the nuns would have a fit if I went on a date.”

“What they don’t know won’t hurt them.” I wink.

“But Father Murray would,” she states matter-of-factly, her plump lips pursed into the sweetest pout.

“Would he?” I tilt my head to the side.

She blinks. “At confession.”

“Ah, I see.” Father Murray would no doubt love to spice up confession time with some naughty tales of dirty deeds by this innocent thing. I chuckle to myself. “You’re a good girl, aren’t you, Caitlin?”

Her big green eyes look up at me, so sincere. “I try my verybest, Mr Byrne.”

Her innocence stirs something in me, something dark and perverted. I clear my throat. “So, what are you doing here today?”

“Oh, um, it’s nothing.” She tucks a red curl behind her ear and averts her gaze.

“Go on,” I encourage, not ready to end the conversation.

“Well… I’ve been doing these creative arts courses and I’ve come up with some, um, jewellery designs. And… as I’m just home for the summer break, I wanted to show them to Dad.” Her head drops down and she adds more quietly, “But he said, he hasn’t got time today.”

“Can’t you show them to him at home?”

“Dad doesn’t like to discuss business at home. But he’s asked me to come back here tomorrow instead.” She shrugs and plasters a smile on her face, but she can’t hide the hurt in her emerald eyes.
