“You’re such a fucker,” Roman says with a laugh. “No, we’re not showing up tonight in front of Dominic and all his men in a fucking blue minivan.”

Vitaly turns to Lev. “I knew I should’ve gotten the green one.”

Lev laughs. “Yeah, that would’ve made all the difference.”

“All right, time to go,” Danil says, getting us all back on track.

While they say goodbye to their wives, a group of men arrive to watch the penthouse while we’re gone. I grab Matvey’s hand, excited to go with them instead of staying behind. Before we get into the elevator, Matvey gives a quick whistle and Finn comes running over, stopping at my side and looking up with a cute, excited look on his face.

“He’s coming with us?”

Matvey cups my cheek, studying me with his dark eyes. “What if you have a panic attack and you need him?” He reaches down and pets Finn’s head. “He needs to be with you, malishka. Plus, look at him.”

We both look down at the excited glint in Finn’s amber eyes. I can’t help but laugh at how damn happy he looks.

“He’d be so sad if we left him behind.”

He’s right. Finn loves being with us, and he’d hate to be left behind, so when we step into the elevator, we do it together—five heavily armed men, one highly trained dog, and me.

Instead of taking the minivan like Vitaly wants, we pile into one of the black SUVs. Matvey keeps my hand in his for the entire drive, rubbing the pad of his thumb along my skin in the way that I’ve come to crave and depend on. It’s as comforting as Finn’s head resting on my thigh, and I feel completely safe, squished in between these two.

When we get to the building where the auction is taking place, Lev parks us next to a black car with tinted windows.

Danil closes his laptop and looks back at us. “Everyone is here and waiting. All the men showed up, and no one suspected anything.”

“So they have no idea what’s going on?” I ask, looking over at the nondescript building that I would never in a million years suspect of housing a bidding war for trafficked women.

Matvey shakes his head. “Konstantin and Osip were always very careful to never show their faces to the clientele.”

“When I came here for Simona’s auction,” Danil says, “I was led into a private viewing room that looked out onto the stage. I never saw any of the other men who were bidding. The only men I saw were those that were guarding the doors and the man who did the tattoos after the women were bought. All those men are dead now, and no one here will ever know that the men standing guard outside their doors are a part of our Bratva and not Konstantin’s.”

Roman laughs. “They were lead in by Melnikov men and willingly allowed themselves to be locked into a room.”

“Men with money always think they’re untouchable,” Lev says, shaking his head. “Stupid fucks are just begging to be killed.”

“Well, let’s give ‘em what they’re begging for.” Vitaly laughs and opens the door.

When Matvey and I step out with Finn, I see Dominic getting out of the black car next to us. If he’s surprised to see me, he hides it well. He looks down at Finn and then gives me a slight nod.

“Joining in the fun tonight, Alina?”

“Matvey and I are trying a new therapy.”

I see a faint hint of a smile in the dark before he says, “Funny, that’s exactly what I’m trying.” Turning to Danil, he asks, “Which room is he in?”

“He’s number nineteen. Everyone’s locked in their rooms. We’ll be taking the others out and then setting the building on fire. We’ll also be burning down the motel later, the one they use to house the women in before bringing them here to be sold. There’s no need to keep up the pretense any longer. Now it’s time to send a message.”

“We want this shit out of our city,” Roman says.

Dominic gives a soft laugh. “Your city?”

Instead of puffing out chests and grabbing dicks, the men around me laugh. It’s the carefree sound of dangerous men who have nothing to prove.

“I saidour,” Roman says.

I catch a flash of Lev’s lip ring as he smiles and bumps Dominic’s shoulder. “Don’t get all pissy.”

Dominic raises a brow. “Pissy? You did not just fucking say that to me.”
