“You gotta be kidding me.”

He laughed into her neck. “Five minutes.” He pulled out of her and took care of the condom before he lifted her into his arms. “I probably shouldn’t be proud of that.”

She wrapped her arms around him with a laugh. “Oh, you should. Definitely should,” she said on a shaky breath. “However, even if it was five minutes we’re still late.”

“Good thing I’m driving.” He squeezed her ass and set her down with a swat.

She flew into the bathroom and did a little repair work on her wardrobe. She changed her panties becauseJesus. And then she stuffed her feet in sandals as she double checked her passport and money situation.

Vance met her at the door to her bedroom wearing his outfit from the day before. He was true to his word, he drove fast. Mostly safe, but definitely fast. She stopped into the store for supplies that her father packed up, and they made their way to the airport.

“Are you sure you don’t want to stop and get clothes?”

“I’ve got time to burn while you’re working. I’ll find stuff over there.”

“It’s going to be terribly boring for you over there.”

“Oh, yeah. The most beautiful beaches on this side of the world. Yep. Totally going to be bored.”

She scrunched down in her seat. “All right, but I’m going to be working the whole time.”

“Goldie?”

“What?”

“Shut up. I’m going. When the shop closes for the day, we’ll go out and see the town. You’ll actually get a taste of the island for once. Please stop stressing about it. I want to be with you. Iwantto go on this trip.” He held out his hand to her and she took it. He rested it on his thigh as he raced through the highways and turn offs until there were signs for a private airstrip.

She sat up, her eyes wide at all the planes in the hangars. Helicopters and really old planes that looked like they should be in a museum instead of in the air. He parked at a large building and helped her unload. She had a rolling cart full of supplies for the store and Vance took care of her luggage.

Presley scanned the wide-open landscape of the airport. She caught a familiar number on a tail. No, that couldn’t be his. “That’s your six-seater plane?”

He shrugged. “Six pretty big seats.”

“That’s obscene.”

“Wait until you see inside,” he said with a waggle of eyebrows.

A heavyset guy with a friendly face stood at the stairs to the plane. “Nice to see you again, Van.”

Vance held out a hand and they shook. “It’s been a while.”

“I was beginning to think you were never leaving New York again.”

“Nowhere I wanted to go until now.” He turned to her. “Presley, this is my pilot, Sam.”

“Nice to meet you, Sam.”

“Pleasure is entirely mine. So, we’re headed to the lower island, huh?”

She nodded. “I have a shop in Philipsburg.”

“Well, that’s good placement. All the tourists land there.” He smiled. “We’re fueled up and we got the go ahead to leave in ten.”

“Thanks, man.”

“Oh, Melissa’s inside.”

Vance nodded. “Perfect. Thanks, Sam.”
