“Then how do I always wind up wet with you?!”

It’s only when I see Josh’s gaze flash with something hot that I realize what I just said. “You know what I mean!” I blurt, blushing.

“I know what Ihopeyou mean…”

Josh leans closer, and my damp skin prickles with delicious goosebumps as his lips slowly graze my ear. “You’ve turned me into a sugar fiend, woman,” he murmurs, breath hot on my skin. “I never had a sweet tooth before, but now all I can think about is having another taste ofcake.”

Oh.

My heart races, gazing up at him. He’s just inches away, his lips full and tempting, and?—

“Hazel! Josh!”

Yells from up the beach break through my lusty daze. I look over to find Brooke is calling to us. The games have all finished, and the entire wedding party is gathering by the bar for cocktails and dinner.

“We should…” I gesture vaguely.

“Eat?” Josh says, his lips curling in a wicked grin. “Good idea.”

I giggle. “You’re going to make everything dirty now, aren’t you?”

“I didn’t say a word,” he declares, offering his hand to help me wade back to shore. “But if you’re wondering… you should definitely save room for dessert.”

Back on dry land,we grab a drink and go join the others. Now that the skies are darkening, the beach is lit with masses of romantic candles, and hundreds of flickering torches. The swirling goo in the aquarium tank has turned neon; glowing brightly in lurid pinks and gold.

“We went on one of our first dates to a Kevin Kang exhibit, didn’t we, babe?” Avery says to Robert, looking up happily from beneath the scaffold. The neon light shimmers in her hair, making her look like some kind of fairy princess. Which clearly, Avery can tell, because she subtly gestures Brooke over to start taking photos.

“I always loved his work,” Robert agrees.

“So, he surprised me by commissioning this tank for our wedding!” Avery says, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “It’s called,Forever Is Bright With You.”

“Awww,” everyone murmurs, and I have to admit, it is romantic.

“Good thing they didn’t go see a Banksy exhibition,” Josh murmurs. “Or there would be graffiti sprayed all over the resort.”

I elbow him lightly. “I think it’s sweet. And they seem more relaxed now, don’t they? I said last night was just a lover’s quarrel.”

Josh sounds a reluctant sigh. “I guess…”

He goes to fetch us another drink, while Avery and Robert hold court under the aquarium, posing for photos and admiring the piece.

“What are we getting for the wedding ceremony, a life-sized statue of the pair carved from solid marble?” Ivy joins me, with a huge plate of lobster and crab cakes.

“Where did you get that?” I ask, my mouth watering.

She gestures over to the buffet, still being set up by waiters bringing coolers of food and ice directly off another boat. “I couldn’t wait. With all these gushing speeches, it’s going to be forever before dinner.” Ivy offers me the plate, and I take a massive shrimp. “Look at you, all cute and blushy,” she smirks. “You guys were so wholesome, splashing around in the water.”

I remember Josh’s filthy whispers, and have to grin. “Wholesome. Sure. That’s us.”

Ivy turns back to the happy couple. “Maybe I should demand Reeve airlift in a Rodin sculpture for our wedding,” she muses.

“Please don’t.” I grin. “You know the man is so crazy for you, he’d try and find a way to make it happen. And by that, I mean, he’d badger me to get it done.”

Ivy laughs. “True. What about Josh?” she asks, shooting a look to where he’s chatting with some of the other groomsmen. “Is he the Rodin kind?”

I nearly choke on my shrimp. “It’s been forty-eight hours! Take the ‘m’ word out of your mouth.”

She laughs. “Come on, it took me all of four days to realize that your brother is the love of my life. And only that long because I was distracted by my ex, and a whole treasure hunt going on,” she adds.
