Public humiliation averted, I go find Josh just as we reach the docks back at the resort. The lights shine invitingly through the jungle: mains electricity, running water, and no goop in sight.

It’s good to be back.

“How does room service and an early night sound?” Josh asks, offering his hand to help me ashore.

“Like bliss.” I sigh, relieved to be back on solid ground again - with no more major events scheduled that could possibly go wrong tonight. “I could murder a cheeseburger.”

“And something sweet,” Josh adds, squeezing my hand. “If you’re still in the mood for dessert?” He arches an eyebrow with his sizzling invitation.

My pulse kicks, all our flirty banter rushing back to me.

And those two orgasms he effortlessly delivered last night.

“I am in the mood,” I reply, with what I hope is a smoldering look. “I just need to check in about the plans for tomorrow. Meet you back at your bungalow?”

“Come knock for me,” he agrees. “I’ll be waiting. With extra fries.”

“You know how to tempt a woman!”

I laugh, walking away. And I’m not wrong. Josh is downright delicious on his own, but throw in some room service carbs, too?

He better order a spread, because we’re both going to need our energy tonight.

Back at wedding HQ,I regroup with the planning team, who are tired and cranky – and I don’t blame them.

“That mess was not our fault,” Nils insists angrily. “The scaffolding was sound! We tested it for weight, stability… how were we supposed to know there would be dangerous projectiles flying around?”

“I know,” I soothe him. “Your setup was flawless. We just need to make sure that absolutely nothing else goes wrong.”

Tomorrow, the wedding party are taking Jeep tours of the island, up to a scenic lookout point where some shaman mystic will do a ritual blessing on the happy couple. I make sure the weather reports are still clear and the picnics and decor are all set, then head back towards my room, more than ready to strip off and take a long, hot soapy shower.

With a tall, hot, soapy Josh–

“Hazel!” Anna intercepts me in the lobby. “I heard about the slime,” she says wide-eyed. “Avery must have hit the roof.”

“Wouldn’t you?” I ask. “But thank you, for supervising the setup earlier. Everything was wonderful, until… the incident.”

Anna looks sympathetic. “It’s all over the internet already.”

“Good or bad?” I ask, bracing myself.

“It’s about sixty-forty, leaning in favor of Avery,” she reports. “That video is still going strong, but she’s been posting damage control non-stop. She’s up at her room now, doing a ‘get unready with me’ livestream, cleaning it all off.”

“She’ll turn things around.” I nod, pleased. “Hopefully, by morning, everything will be great again.”

“Is there anything you need me to do now?” Anna asks.

I shake my head, already backing away to make my escape. “Get some sleep? Make an offering to the wedding gods, and pray for a disaster free day tomorrow?”

“I’ll light a candle and burn some sage.” Anna agrees. “Good night!”

I bolt from the lobby, walking fast down the torch-lit path towards my bungalow. I’m so ready to be off the clock and alone with Josh again. After a day spent flirting, and fantasizing, and replaying our chocolate-covered hookup over in my mind, anticipation is buzzing in my veins.

Because it’s beenwaytoo long since I had a wild, sweaty night of sexual abandon. And if that man can do those things to my body rolling around in the jungle, just think what we could achieve with a locked door, a king-sized bed, and a detachable shower head…

I walk faster.

“Hazel, there you are,” the hotel concierge, Larry, appears from the darkness, making me jump.
