I’m goingto kill him.

Smother the man with a bridal bouquet, strangle him with a lace garter. Even if Josh Carlyle is a sex god walking among us mere mortals, I need to slap that handsome face, and soon.

“You and Hendricks seems pretty damn friendly…”

Even after I have Anna whisk Cash away to get settled in, and steer everyone out onto our impromptu hike, you can still cut the tension with a cake knife. It’s a pleasant, warm day, with the sun peeking through fluffy clouds, and the gorgeous natural landscape unfolding, lush around us as we make our may up the mountain trail. But the scenery is the last thing on my mind with Robert and Avery strolling up ahead of me, having a tense-looking conversation.

“We met years ago, I was in a music video for his band,” Avery replies, as I try to keep pace and discreetly eavesdrop. “I haven’t seen him in years!”

“Well, he’s sure making up for lost time,” Robert grumbles. “The man had his hands all over your ass.”

“That’s just Cash, he’s an affectionate guy with everyone.”

“Right, because the British are famously touchy-feely people.”

“Lovely day for it, huh?”

I startle, as Josh falls into step beside me. He’s smiling broadly, looking way too damn pleased with himself – and far too handsome, too, with a pair of casual cargo pants and a plain cotton T-shirt hugging his arms. Strong arms.

Arms that pinned me down last night, fucking me into the couch and out of my mind…

“You know, this was a great idea, if I say so myself,” he continues, easily keeping pace with his long, steady strides. “We can all get some fresh air, stretch our legs…”

“Fall off a cliff,” I mutter, scowling.

He laughs. “You seem tense. Did you have time for breakfast?” he asks. “I have a protein bar in my pack, if you want.”

“Shh,” I hush him, still trying to listen in on his uncle and Avery, talking up ahead. “I don’t want anything from you.”

“That’s not what you said last night,” Josh’s voice turns smoky. “I seem to remember you wanted someveryspecific things. And got them all, too. Three times.”

My cheeks flush at the sudden memory of his body sliding, sensual against mine, and my helpless, gasping pleas formore.

Damn, it was hot. Life-changing, even.

But that was before I found out Josh is actively trying to ruin this wedding, and sabotage my client’s happiness.

“Go annoy someone else,” I scowl at him, then walk faster, trying to focus on the snatches of conversation drifting back on the breeze.

“…How long?” Robert is demanding. “Was it just a casual fling, or were you two really serious?”

“It was nothing!” Avery insists. “Just a few months. Darling, he means nothing to me,” she insists loudly. “I haven’t even thought about him in forever. I was young and stupid, and had a silly little fling. Don’t you have any exes you’d rather forget?” she adds with a teasing grin.

“Yes, but they weren’t just feeling me up in front of everyone,” Robert grumbles, as the pair pull away to join some of the others, and I can’t hear their conversation anymore.

Damn it.

“Are you happy now?” I demand to Josh, who’s still strolling along beside me.

“About what?” he asks, giving me an innocent look, but I don’t buy it for a second.

“Inviting Cash here to screw things up. If you were thinking Avery would fall back into his arms, it won’t work,” I add, determined. “She looks furious that he’s here.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Josh insists. “I mean, sure, I think I heard a rumor that they dated, but my uncle is always telling me, you can’t believe anything you read in the tabloids. I just invited Cash for the music, that’s all.”

He flashes another smug grin, and I’m torn between the urge to slap it off his face, or kiss him senseless. I give him a shove instead. “You don’t seriously think you can break them up, do you? You’re way too old to be pulling this reverseParent Trapnonsense!”

Josh looks blank. “Parent who?”
