Monty cocked an eyebrow and adjusted his position to make himself more comfortable. “Your son is a brat—”

“Hey!” Ren shouted

Montgomery motioned toward him. “Case in point.”

Da Han smirked, but then his expression turned darker. “Let that be the last time you insult him.” His tone was full of warning.

Montgomery sighed, then sat back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other. His manner garnered another cocked eyebrow from Da Han, who seemed impressed as he regarded the other man.

“Of course, I won't be in a good mood on my wedding night, or for some time for that matter. I was forced into this situation. However, I refuse to live my life in fear. Your son wants me—fine—I don't see any way out of that. But if we aren't compatible, I think it's only wise to allow us to get a divorce. That would be beneficial to both parties.” Monty tossed Ren an annoyed look before returning his attention to Da Han. “At least give me that assurance as I really have nothing I'm gaining from this 'offer'.”

“Don't you?” Mèng Yáo asked.

“No,” Monty said. “Your son is getting what he wants.”

“You gain your life,” Da Han said.

“A life having to be married to someone I do not want,” Monty shot back.

Da Han scoffed and his oldest children gave Montgomery some very serious unfriendly looks.

“Let me kill him, daddy,” Xiù said, her pretty mouth turned down in a snarl as she glared at Monty.

"He's mine! You don't touch him,” Ren told his sister.

Xiù turned to her little brother. “That's not up for you to decide.”

Monty watched the two siblings face off and noted how angry Ren was. Of course, no one was more pissed off than he was.

“This one is far too brazen,” Mèng Yáo stated as she let her killer gaze roam over Montgomery.

“He's fearless. That's why he's the hottest Dom at the club,” Ren said, then licked his lips in wonton desire. He couldn't wait to feel his Sir's hands all over him... pulling his hair, stroking him, and holding him. Soon, he'd be married to Master Ellis. He couldn't wait to go back to Scarlet Letter and be the envy of every pathetic sub in there.

“Can you at least tell me what kind of family I'm marrying into?” Monty asked. “Are you mafia?”

Da Han smirked.

“Triad?” Monty supplied.

Da Han nodded. “I am the head of the Jade Dragon Triad. But I'm simply just an extremely successful businessman with plenty of generational wealth.”

“I suppose when you kill or threaten your opposition, success is inevitable,” Monty shot back.

Da Han chuckled. “I like you, Montgomery. I see why my son does as well,” he said. “You'll make a fine CEO.”

“A CEO puppet, you mean. I'll have no controlling power,” Montgomery stated.

“Until you prove yourself trustworthy,” Da Han said. He tossed Howard a gaze, just to quickly monitor the other man and his disposition, then he looked back at his future son-in-law.

“What makes you think I want to be pulled by your strings at home and in the office?” Monty asked.

“I'm sorry, did I in some way give you the impression that I was giving you a choice about being CEO?” Da Han looked at Montgomery, basically challenging him to decline.

“I was under that impression, yes,” Monty said.

“Well, you don't have a choice, but allow me to sweeten the deal. If you and my son can work out your marriage... I'll give full control of the company to you. Of course, I'll still keep my majority shares and I'd expect you to continue to run it as it will be run from now on. But you'll be the one in charge. You'll be in the family, after all.”

Montgomery didn't need Da Han to elaborate to get the message behind his words. Their company was about to be a front for illegal operations. He was simply going to be the face... the figurehead. That was unless he fell in line and became a criminal as well as working for the triad.
