The band looked at one another in the dim light. And without having to say a word, the members of the band came together in a group hug.

Fans shouted for an encore so loudly I felt the vibrations flow through my body. We looked at one another with grins on our faces.

No longer boys but grown men. Each of us with different kinds of dreams and aspirations, but brothers nonetheless.

“Ready for one more?” Crue asked, and we all smiled like idiots.

Mason suggested a song, and we nodded. Moving to our spots, we gave the backstage crew the signal, and the stage started to rise.

The stage set in place, it was still dark, but the crowd went quiet when they noticed the shadows of our outlines before we gave the fans what they wanted one more time.

And fuck, it was incredible!

EPILOGUE

JAX- FIVE YEARS LATER

I strummedthe guitar by the infinity pool while I muttered to myself. I set the instrument down and jotted down the lyrics that were playing in my head.

The day was beautiful. Bright with blue skies and puffy clouds. I read the words on the notebook in my hands and smiled knowing it was going to be good.

An upcoming hit.

I could feel it.

My eyes roamed the backyard. Taking in the house and pool. I couldn’t stop the grin that felt pasted on my face. When the tour ended, we went back to living in the townhouse for about two seconds. My cover had been blown, and living there hadn’t been safe. Not when fans would stop by and take pictures in front of our door and then a tour company added us to their tour.

Thankfully, it hadn’t taken much to convince Dani to move into the house where we’d come together as a couple. Where we’d made love and had saidI love youfor the first time. It had felt right, and Dani loved the place. With her in it, she’d made the house feel like a home.

I’d helped my girl open her bakery as I’d promised.

My wife was brilliant, and Sweet Delights was an incredible success.

With Dani by my side as my muse, I’d found another calling. I’d been happily writing music for other artists. If someone had told me I’d be back in the music industry, I would have told them they’d lost their mind. Never in a million years would I have thought I’d want to get back to music, but it was as easy as loving Dani.

Writing new music came naturally.

I’d always loved writing music, but I had sworn off music. Soul Obsession’s reunion and going on tour and Dani in my life had changed everything. Where I had spent a decade avoiding my guitar, now I couldn’t imagine not playing on a daily basis.

And my wife loved my music.

I didn’t work at the shop anymore, but Dani encouraged me to keep working on cars in our garage because she knew how much I loved it.

I had it all.

But more than the materialistic shit, I was happily married to Dani.

I had no idea how she put up with me, with my mood swings and quiet moments, but she did. And she did it with grace and optimism that was fucking contagious. The last five years of wedded bliss had felt like a dream.

The front door opened, and I turned just in time to see my beautiful wife walk in.

“Babe!” Dani’s voice called out. I stood up to walk into the house.

“What the hell, Dani?” I growled, rushing toward her. I loved her, but the woman was stubborn as hell.

“You know we can order this stuff and have someone else bring it into the house.”

“Why would we pay for someone to pick things up from our bakery to bring it home when I’m literally there?” The woman always had an answer for everything.
