I was made to kill a man tonight.

My hand shook so hard, my first shot missed.

Father said the third time’s a charm, and he laughed that I made the guy suffer when my second bullet didn’t do the job outright.

He made me clean up the mess.

I can still smell the blood, and when I close my eyes, the man’s staring right back at me. Cold and accusing.

A high pitched giggle assaults me before I turn the corner to seethe wedding plannerstanding way too close to my betrothed, her taloned hand resting on Axel’s chest for some unknown reason.

It’s her.

Eowyn.

I clear my throat to announce my presence.

“Axel, honey, I—” There’s a beat and then she adds in a much less seductive tone, “Oh. I didn’t knowshewould be here.”

“You’re planning our wedding, Eowyn. You were going to have to meet at some point,” Axel replies, his tone dripping with venomous ice.

It’s almost enough to make me smile, but my eyes narrow as the ballsy bitch that she is doesn’t move away from him, just slowly turns her head and gives me a sly smile over her shoulder.

“Odi! At last. The blushing bride-to-be is finally here. I hope you don’t plan on keeping Axel waiting this long on the big day, someone else might snatch him up!”

Ignoring her none too subtle jibes, I plaster on a smile that’s as fake as her tits and welcome her toourhome. I just pray she doesn’t ask for a tour because all I’ve seen of it so far is my bedroom and the en suite.

“Darling, can I borrow you for a second?” I purr at Axel. He blinks in. surprise but then nods and follows me out into the foyer, where I make sure to close the door between us andher.

“What is it?” Axel asks, frowning as I fold my arms over my chest.

“The only thing cuter – and bycuteI mean fucking batshit crazy – than you thinking I’m going to marry you, is you thinking that I’m going to have that desperate skank anywhere near me for the foreseeable future.”

“You’re being ridiculous,” he says calmly in a patronising way that just gets my back up even more. “She’s the wedding planner.”

“There you go again, talking about weddings and marriage and all that fucking shit. I’m telling you now, if you keep her around then it. Is. Not. Happening.”

“Wearegetting married. Eowynisour wedding planner. And just so you canreallythrow your teddies out of the pram: the venue will be the AG Hotel.”

An unholy banshee scream wants to rip itself free of my throat but I won’t give the bitch eavesdropping behind the door the satisfaction.

“I told you last time, I willnotstep foot in that place again.” My hands curl into fists and I silently scream instead, but Axel looks astonished by my outburst.

“No, you said you wouldn’twillinglystep foot in that place again. As you’reunwillingto marry me, it’s a moot point. Because regardless of yourwants, it’s happening.”

He goes to walk away but my next words stop him in his tracks.

“I’ll kill her,” I say softly, meaning every word.

There’s something about that woman that I don’t like and don’t trust. She’s a viper in the grass for sure, and I’d be doing the Trinity a favour by removing her from their midst.

“You’ll do no such thing.”

“Try me.” I raise a brow in challenge. “You obviously keep her on a very good retainer, because your dick isn’t good enough to keep her around, panting after you like a bitch in heat, but is she willing to die for her job? Should I ask her?”

“Odi—” he growls but he doesn’t get any further because the skank in question yanks the door open and beams at him.

“Are we ready to make a start? I do have places to be today, and Odi has kept us waiting long enough.”
