“I feel like I should be asking what the hell just happened, but I don’t really want to break the spell,” she confessed.

Xander chuckled. “Unless you tell me to get the hell out, nothing is going to break this spell.”

“You just spanked me.”

He nodded.

“And made me come.”

He nodded again.

“I’ve never come that quickly.”

He was touched by her admission. Then he forced himself to ask the hard question. “Are you okay with what just happened?”

She laughed, the joyful sound setting his mind at ease immediately. “Refer back to my previous statement about the orgasm. I swear to God I thought my head was going to blow off my shoulders.”

“There’s plenty more where that came from.” Xander, unable to resist, cupped her cheek, giving her a long, deep kiss.

When they parted, he placed his forehead against hers as she sighed happily. They remained that way for a few moments, then Gia stood. She started to pull her jeans back up, but he gripped her wrist, stopping her.

“You’re taking those pants in the wrong direction.”

Gia’s brows furrowed. “I thought…I mean…”

Xander didn’t respond to her confusion; instead, he placed her hands on his shoulders so she could hold herself steady while he removed her shoes, socks, jeans, and panties.

Then he stood, reached around her, and gripped her ass, giving it a squeeze and grinning when she winced.

“Mean,” she said without any real anger.

“Hot,” he retorted. He took a few steps toward the hallway, intent on dragging her to that bedroom she’d so helpfully told him how to find, but stopped short when he spotted her Magic 8-Ball on the end table.

Laughing, he picked it up. “You weren’t kidding about still having this.”

Gia smiled. “Why would I joke about something as serious as the 8-Ball?”

“And you still consult it?”

“Sometimes. Usually after a couple glasses of wine, just for shits and giggles.”

“What’s the last question you asked?” He was amused by her continued obsession with the toy.

“Hmmm,” she said. “Let’s see. I don’t remember exactly, but I did ask it about the two guys I went out with.”

“The Tinder boys?” he grumbled.

She giggled at his obvious disdain. “Yep. I asked it if either one of them was ‘the one’.” She finger-quoted the last two words.

“And what did it say?”

She sighed heavily. “Very doubtful and outlook not so good.”

“Clever ball.” Unable to resist, Xander shook the ball and silently posed his own question. When he flipped it over, he smiled, reading the response aloud. “Yes definitely.”

Gia tilted her head. “What did you ask it?”

“If I should take you to bed tonight.”
