“Oh yeah. He was always really serious about making sure we were well fed. Ina Garten is his messiah. He’s gonna do a spatchcocked turkey on the grill. We offered to help, but he won’t let us. He just wants us to hang out with him while he works.”

“That is so sweet. You guys need your own sitcom. Pam and the Boys.”

Olin let out a short grunt of a laugh. “I’ll get right on that, but not before I see you again.”

“Well, I don’t think we have anything on your calendar on Saturday. Maybe you could come over and we can do some fun things in front of this mirror.”

“I have Lakers tickets with my brothers.”

“Oh, okay.” The wave of disappointment that crashed over her should have been alarming.

“But I’ll figure something out.”

“Don’t worry. It is a family weekend or whole week or whatever. Get in the quality time.”

“Okay, but I’ll still figure something out.”

“Okay.”

“Also, I can delete these if you want me to,” Olin offered. “The images are burned into my memory already.”

“You can keep them. Plus, you share them and I’ll bust that NDA wide open.”

“Good call.”

“Put them in their own special folder called ‘Wow. Just Wow’.”

“Oh, I’ll definitely do that.”

Meegan was already smiling like a dope and she had to stop herself from sighing. He was really cute. Olin excused himself so he could check out, but promised to text her throughout the week. She liked that idea. She couldn’t remember the last time she had a romantic text buddy all her own.

He kept his word, texting her most of the afternoon as he did the rest of his errands (internet millionaires, they’re just like the rest of us). He sent her pictures of him with his dad and his brothers two Thanksgivings ago when Pam managed to pull the turkey off of the table. Meegan sent him a picture of her and her mom waiting in the merch line at the Stones show, Meegan's first concert when she was twelve.

He sent her the issue of Batman that came out the day he was born. She sent him the Billboard Hot 100 from the day he was born. These Dreams by Heart had taken the world by storm. By the time she pulled up to Daniel and Kiera’s, he’d sent her a text she could not ignore until after TV night.

You said you like to be spoiled.

You need to tell me all the ways you want me to spoil you.

Meegan’s cheeks blazed as she read the words. She felt more confident in their compatibility outside of the bedroom, but she was still feeling a little unsure when it came to the whole erotic power exchange thing. Handling newbies on her own was uncharted territory, if he would even consider himself a newbie. They’d barely scratched the surface of what could be. Still, she liked that he hadn’t forgotten what made her happy. Gifts, gifts and more gifts. She was typing her first response when she spotted Xeni in her rearview mirror. She was definitely crying. Meegan jumped out of her car and rushed over to her.

“Hey, what’s wrong?”

“Hey. It’s nothing.” Xeni sniffled.

“I haven’t seen you cry in a long time. What’s going on?”

Xeni sighed and rolled her eyes at the same time. “I had a fight/not fight with Mason before I left the house.”

“You two are the only parents I’ve known. You cannot break up,” Meegan said. She was only kinda joking because Xeni and Mason fighting meant love was on its deathbed.

“I’m gonna tell Lynne and Don you said that. Also, we’re not breaking up,” Xeni laughed. “It’s—it’s so ridiculous. I was telling him how much I miss him and I started crying. So he told me to talk to him about it and not hold it in, which I did. I got way too dramatic on some ‘I feel like I just got you back’ bullshit and then he started crying and saying he wouldn’t go out with Duke on the next tour. And then I was freaking out because this is his dream and Duke gave him two solos in the set list and the fans are making whole ass TikTok compilations of him and they would be devastated if he disappeared. I just wanted him to know that I miss him and now I’m worried he’s gonna walk off with ten shows left.”

“Aww, honey.”

“The man is on tour with his band, wearing custom designer kilts, not facing down active combat! I’m being ridiculous.” Xeni sniffled again and it broke Meegan’s heart. She hated seeing her friend this upset.

“So? You’re allowed to miss your husband. I think that’s a good sign that you really love him.”
