“Here.” He reached for the necklace and Meegan turned around and lifted her hair. The cool metal and oh so many fucking diamonds slipped around her neck and settled just above her breasts. She turned back to face her man.

“It’s so beautiful. Thank you.”

Olin reached back into the gift bag and pulled out another Tiffany box. It took everything for Meegan not to sway on her feet. He gave above and beyond a new name. He opened the box and revealed another key. “This is for every day.” The blade didn’t have any diamonds, but the bow was made of a delicate diamond encrusted circle that curved around toward an arrangement of diamond ivy leaves.

“You call this everyday?” she teased.

“It’s what my girl deserves. You said you like to be spoiled.”

“You are correct, sir. Thank you.” Meegan stood up on her toes and pressed a kiss to his lips. It sucked that she’d wake up tomorrow alone in her bed, but she would have Olin with her in a different way. In her heart and resting carefully on her chest.

“Maybe this one will work better.” Meegan watched as he reached into the bag again and pulled out another box.

“Did you buy the whole store?” she laughed nervously.

“I thought about it.” Meegan shook her head as he opened the third box. Another key. The one was a simple gold chain, no diamonds. The bow, though, was shaped like a heart.

“Oh,” she said softly. “For when my diamonds are at the cleaners?”

“Exactly. There’s one more thing.” Olin took out his phone and pulled up the email from his private physician. “It’s been a while since my ex, but I can’t remember the last time I got tested. Now seemed like a good time. I’m all good.”

“I love a man who thinks ahead. I get tested regularly. Here.” It took a second, but Meegan pulled up her provider’s health care app and showed Olin her most recent results. “I was with Keira and Daniel over the summer and I got tested after that. There hasn’t been anyone since then. I’m good to go.”

“Well, I guess we can get to the real fun stuff.”

“You are too much. I can’t believe I won’t see you until this weekend,” she whined. God, this week was gonna suck. She had to go to her job and be present for those adorable fucking kids when she wanted to be up under Olin.

“What are you talking about?”

“I mean after you say goodnight?”

“Pam’s at my dad’s. He’s trying to prove he can watch two dogs at once. I thought I could stay over. I hoped we could finally look at our checklists together.”

“Oh. Well then. Come on up.”

Olin handed Meegan the kinky teddy bear. She stepped onto the curb and waited for him to grab the gift bag and lock the car. They walked the short distance to her apartment, to start the next part of their night.

Meegan was tempted to drag Olin right to her bedroom, she wanted him so badly. Her heart was still racing when she set her new teddy friend on the floor in the corner of her living room. She told Olin to have a seat and then she grabbed them both some water. She sat close to him on her pink couch, trying to wrap her mind around the diamonds hanging around her neck.

“I probably should have asked you this earlier. What’s your stance on kids?” Olin said, quite literally out of nowhere.

“Are we having kids now?” she laughed.

“No,” he said, flashing a cute smile. “I just never thought I’d meet anyone and, at some point, I need to know if I should tell my dad that grandkids are not happening from me.”

“It’s funny you say that.” She told him about all the gentle pressure she’d gotten from her mom and her aunts, and what Duke had said about showing up with a baby to get them off her back. “I love kids, I just… I thought it wouldn’t happen for me. Sounds like it’s the same for you?”

“Yeah,” Olin replied.

With anyone else, this would be a “hey, buddy, way too soon pull it back” kind of conversation, but maybe the diamonds, cute bear and the new status of their relationship had gone to Meegan’s head. She was glad he’d brought it up, glad he was thinking about what their future would look like beyond so, so much sex. More importantly, she felt at ease talking to Olin about it because she knew if he changed his mind at any point, he would talk to her about it. That mattered a lot.

Did she want children? Not at that moment, but she thought she would make a damn good mom. And from the way Olin took care of his dog, she had no doubt he’d wake up every morning trying to outdo his own father as dad of the year. She could easily see parenthood with him.

“How about this? How about later? Much later. I don’t mind the idea of being an older parent.”

“Me neither. My buddy Michael had kids at 52.”
