Before she even knew she was moving, Olivia had flown across the room and into Aiden’s arms. Burying his nose in her hair, he wrapped his arms tightly around her, holding her close.

Jonathan chuckled, his stoic veneer cracking for the first time since she’d met him. “I guess I know your answer.”

“Thank you,” Olivia said, to either of them, or both. What did it matter, so long as she got to stay with Aiden? “Thank you for understanding.”

Looking over the top of her head, Aiden promised, “We’ll leave as soon as the sun comes up.”

CHAPTER13

Aiden

Early morning sunlight fought its way through the canopy, giving the road to Aiden’s cabin a dappled look. The shadows also played across Olivia’s face as she slept in the passenger seat of his Land Rover, head leaning against the window. Her mouth hung open, and a tiny rivulet of drool fell from one corner of her lips.

Christ, she was cute.

“Liv,” he said, giving her leg a gentle shake.

She shifted in her seat and made a noise that sounded like, “Huuurng.”

Shoulders shaking with a silent laugh, he nudged her leg a little harder. “It’s time to wake up, Liv. We’re almost there.”

Her eyes still didn’t open, but she did shut her mouth, swiping the wetness from her chin with the back of her hand. “Okay, okay,” she said, rolling her head back and forth to ease the crick in her neck. “I’m awake.”

Just in time, too. Aiden rounded the last turn in his road (more of an extremely long private driveway, really), and stopped the car well back from the house. He wanted her to get the best possible view. He was surprised by the nervous pounding in his chest. He’d never cared what anyone thought about his cabin before. Hell, he’d never evenshownit to anyone before, not so much as a picture. “What do you think?”

Olivia slowly blinked her eyes open, quite obviously still half asleep. When her gaze lit upon the cabin, however, her eyes grew round and her breath caught in her chest. “Oh, wow,” she breathed after a few moments. “Aiden, it’sgorgeous.”

Aiden glowed with pride. He was no architect, of course, so he couldn’t take total credit. But he’d handpicked every single aspect of his little hideaway, and done a good deal of the work himself, until it felt like an extension of his soul. It might as well have a sign hanging over the front door that said, “Aiden McLaren, if He Was a House.”

He watched Olivia as her gaze took in the multi-colored stone façade, the metal roof with its two gables, the garden of wildflowers out front, and the large, covered porch wrapping around three sides of the house. Trees surrounded everything, for he’d only had the heart to cut down the bare minimum of the ancient oaks, birches, and pines. He’d tried to create a forest paradise, and from the awe on Olivia’s face, he’d succeeded. And she hadn’t even seen the real showstopper yet.

“Come on,” he said, driving up to the front of the house. “I want to show you the rest.”

She was out of the car before he even turned it off, following the stone pathway through the wildflower garden. The riot of colors surrounding her, her golden yellow sundress, and the way her black curls tumbled wildly down her back combined to create an image so beautiful, Aiden couldn’t help pulling out his phone and snapping a picture. If they were only to spend one more day together, Aiden wanted to remember it for the rest of his life.

Leaving their bags in the car, he moved up beside her, putting a possessive hand on her hip. He had a whole duffle bag full of fun things for them to play with later, but for now, all he needed was Liv—and perhaps the single item he’d slipped into his pocket as they left their suite an hour ago.

“I can hear running water,” she said, glancing around for its source. “Is there a river nearby?”

“You’ll see in a moment,” he promised, leading her up the steps to the front door. Unlocking it, he pushed the door open and motioned for her to precede him into the house.

With an excited glint in her eyes, Olivia practically skipped over the threshold. “Holy shit!” she exclaimed, hurrying across the enormous room that made up almost the whole interior of the house. She got so close to the floor-to-ceiling windows forming the entire back wall that her breath fogged the glass. “Oh my God,Aiden. I’ve never seen anything more beautiful.”

Moving up behind her at a more sedate pace, he put his hands on her shoulders. “I spent months trying to find the perfect piece of land,” he said, voice soft as he gazed outside. “As soon as I saw this spot, I knew. This was where I wanted my home to be for the rest of my life.”

The house was built at the edge of a stone bluff, and a wide, gentle creek wound its way by about fifteen feet below. The morning sun sparkled against the water, making it shine like thousands of perfect diamonds.

“Thank you for bringing me here,” Olivia said, leaning back against him. “I know this is where you go when you want to be alone. I can’t tell you what it means to me that you wanted me here with you.”

“I told you,” Aiden said, pushing slowly but insistently forward until her breasts and hips were pressed up against the window. “We’re not done yet.”

Bracing herself against the thick glass with her palms, she arched her hips back toward him. “No, we’re not,” she agreed, her breath hitching as he lifted the skirt of her dress.

Aiden thrust his own hips forward, until the erection straining against his zipper was pressed tightly against her ass. “Hands up here,” he said, sliding them up to either side of her face. “Don’t move. Your poor ass can’t take much more punishment right now.”

She whimpered. “Yes, Sir.”

“I’m going to give you a choice,” he said, reaching down and gripping her scant panties in his fist. “I can fuck your pussy or your ass. But I want you to ask me nicely for what you want. And if you’re a very good girl and do exactly as you’re told, I’ll allow you to come.”
