“Yeah, the suspense is killing us!” Lauren agreed.

“And I know it’s killing you!” Audrey slapped me on the arm. They all joined in laughing at me. Could I blame them? They were absolutely right.

“We’ll just have to see what happens. Stay tuned.” I smiled a minxy smile, arching my eyebrows over my mug as I took another sip of my hangover killing coffee.

The sound of my grandparents’laughter brought a smile to my face. I peeked in to watch them as they sat together. They were adorable. Smiling at each other, hands clasped, Pops gently caressing Grams’s palm with his thumb. He leaned forward, puckering his lips. She didn’t hesitate for one second.

What the two of them had was what I genuinely wanted, what I was looking for. I thought I’d had that with Tim. But some things just didn’t work out the way you thought, or hoped they would. “Should I give you two some privacy?” I teased from the doorway.

“Siena!” Grams pressed a hand to her heart. Her cheeks flamed pink, caught in the act. “Why are you trying to sneak up on us old folks?” She immediately began fluffing her hair, making sure there wasn’t a strand out of place.

I laughed. “You guys are not old. Stop that. And it’s almost eleven. According to your timetable, you’re running late, mister. Why are you guys still in your pajamas?”

Grams’s cheeks flushed red once more as she avoided eye contact.A little morning hanky-panky,I mused to myself.Good for you two!Pops took her hand again, placing a chaste kiss upon it. “We’re allowed to sleep in once in a while, smartass.” He chuckled, a twinkle in his eye.

“Mm-hmm. It sounds like you two enjoyed having the house to yourselves last night.”

“And this morning,” he whispered.

“Oh, for heaven’s sake,” Grams admonished, getting up from the table.

Pops erupted in laughter, deep from the belly laughter, and I couldn’t help but join in. Seeing Grams flustered like this just made my day. Again, I knew that this—what was going on between the two of them after all their years together—was what I wanted. Someday.

“In all the times I’ve seen you blush, Grams, this one takes the cake.”

“You two are just a barrel of laughs,” she said, scolding us.

“You can cuss and say the dirtiest words, but the mention of sex gets you all riled up?” I shook my head, a huge grin plastered on my face.

“Well, it’s a private thing.”

“I’ll say,” I snorted. Pops laughed so hard he almost knocked himself out of his chair.

“Siena Giuliana Moretti!” Grams yelled.

“What?” I questioned innocently. “At least you guys still got it! I’d be high fiving each other if I were you! Like, ‘Yeah, we still got it!’” I pantomimed a self-high five.

Pops held his hand up for my grandmother. She chuckled, hesitating for a moment before raising her hand to slap against his, and again blushing like a second-grade girl.

“So, did you girls have fun last night?” Grams asked, changing the subject.

“We had a blast. Thanks again for making your cheesecake. We devoured it!”

“Anytime,” Grams answered.

“Okay, girls. Time to get our asses to work. It’s a beautiful day.” Pops looked at us with a smile. “Beautiful women,” he added with a wink. He whistled a sweet tune as we cleared the table.

It was indeed a beautiful day.The sun was shining; the birds were chirping. There was a slight breeze blowing through the vines. The air was warm, but not hot. Cool, but not cold. It was almosttheperfect day. I was strolling down the aisle, looking over the plants, as I did almost every day, just as Pops was doing a couple rows over.

Out in the vines, Grams sidled up to me, donning sunglasses, a hat, and a huge smile.

“Seems someone’s in a mighty good mood,” I said.

“Yes, I am. It’s a gorgeous day, I’m with my favorite granddaughter, and I have an amazing husband.”
