Me: He said he has some things to “talk to me about.” Can everyone meet tonight? Let’s get some drinks.

Lauren: Some DRANKS! LOL!

Jenny: YES! We’re gonna need them!

Audrey: MEXICAN???

Thumbs-up emojis all around.

Me: Kay! 5 o’clock. Whoever gets there first grab a table.

More thumbs-up emojis pinged through.

The girls wereall waiting when I arrived at Tres Hermanas, one of our favorite spots. Lauren had ordered a couple of pitchers of margaritas.

“Time for you to catch up.” Lauren pushed a drink into my hands.

I clinked glasses with them all and took a long sip. “Ah, that’s the stuff,” I said, licking salt from the rim.

“Mm-hmm,” Lauren moaned as she finished hers and refilled the glass.

Audrey twirled her index finger in the air, signaling me to finish mine as well, so I gulped it down. “Ick.” I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand.

“Oh, they’re delicious, and you know it,” Lauren said as she poured me another.

“All right.” Audrey rubbed her hands together. “Hand it over.” She held out her hand for my phone. “We’ve got a few drinks in us. It’s go-time.”

We were three rounds in as I munched on chips and guacamole, and my friends huddled over my phone. They were intensely focused as they read through Tim’s texts.

“Okay, so what do you think?” I exhaled through my pursed vibrating lips, sounding like a frustrated horse.

“I don’t know, Mrs. Ed.” Audrey erupted in laughter, copying me.

“Ha ha.” I screwed up my face but laughed anyway. “Cut it out.” I took a sip of my margarita. “I need you to be serious. What I need is some sage, sound advice.”

“What you need is a big ole dick!” Jenny nudged me, winking. Our waitress giggled at us as she brought more salsa. We were officially tipsy.

“Yep! That’ll make you forget all about Tiny Tim.” Audrey wiggled her little finger and erupted again. I snorted, laughing along with her.

“Look . . . I don’t need to forget about him.”

“Yes, you do.” Audrey looked at me with one eye closed, trying to keep my face in focus. “And the perfect way to get over him is to get underneath someone else.”

“He’s already outta my mind.”

“Yeah, ’cause of that hunk next door.” She closed her eyes and fanned herself like a verklempt southern belle.

I brushed her off with a flick of my wrist. “Michael has nothing to do with any of this.”

“Yeah, right!” Jenny burst out.

“Don’t lie!” Lauren said. “Jenny showed us his pictures!”

“I’m not lying. I never said he wasn’t attractive. I only meant that I want to get my money back from Tim. Period. I don’t want to cause any waves or give him any reason to holdmymoney overmyhead.”

“You think he would?” Jenny hiccupped.
