“Then we strip it bare. Get hold of Garrick, gut the place, set up elsewhere. There are millions of dollars’ worth of hardware in there that we can use.”

“Or sell,” H said in agreement. “Smart, except we wouldn’t have much time. If we could get in without reviving Minotaur…”

“Only one access path with Minotaur offline,” Daire said, sliding his own omelet onto a plate. “Echo entrance to control room, that’s it.”

“Garrick could get in.”

“We don’t know where he is, or if he’s alive… or who he’s allied with.”

“Who’s Garrick?” Tess asked, trying to keep up.

When Daire slid into the dinette next to her, trapping her in, Tess pushed herself as close to the window as possible. He didn’t crowd her, but even his being on the edge of the seat with one leg in the aisle was too close for her liking.

“Poseidon,” H said.

His tone of curiosity attracted her attention.

“Hardware,” she said, picking up her drink. “And you think he’d be able to get into the system without reviving the system… How do you revive the system?”

“With a key,” Daire said, setting a pointed look on H. “One of three that exist.”

H was shaking his head. “I don’t have it.” Daire stopped mid-chew. “I don’t. After the Six came to me with the plan, I knew there was a chance it would go off the rails. I couldn’t risk any one of us having all three, so… I stashed it.”

“Where?” Daire asked.

H ate some more. “Miami.”

Daire dropped his fork and sank back. “Are you fucking kidding me?”

It wasn’t even remotely funny, but her lips twitched. Daire, or Danny, had just driven all the way across the country and back again. If he wanted to follow H’s breadcrumbs for Minotaur’s sake, he’d have to turn around and go all the way back.

“What?” H asked.

“Garrick would be easier to find,” Daire muttered.

“You’re right, we don’t know if he can be trusted.”

“Same could be said about all the guys. I won’t be the only one you pissed off,” Daire said. “You’ve left us out in the cold for a year. Z could’ve caught up with them.”

“He’d never trust men who trained under me… Except you.”

“Always except me,” Daire said, pushing his own plate away. “If I’m so fucking amazing, why aren’t we setting up on our own?”

“Money.”

“Right, but we just agreed that Olympus Beta is a cash hoard.”

“Not including the actual cash hoard in the vault,” H said, a smile quirking his lips. “You want to set up on your own?”

“I think if Z is doing it, we should start where he would. We talk to the people he would talk to. From their reactions, we figure out what he’s up to. We’re a year behind on this, old man. Before we do anything, we need intel.”

“So we start with the money.”

Daire sucked in a breath and stood up to take both his and her plates. “Two and five are dead. Six is the only original left.”

“Six was our squealer.”

“Yeah, I figured that one out all by myself,” Daire murmured while scraping the food into the trash.
