Drake raced to the kitchen to grab his small, handheld fire extinguisher, but Brody tackled him, pinning Drake to the floor. “How does it feel to be totally helpless, cuz?”

“What’re talking about?” Drake glanced toward the living room to see the curtains completely gone, and now the flame was destroying the pictures on the wall and the bookshelf next to the window.

“How helpless you made me feel when you booted me out.” Brody’s features twisted into a mask of rage. “You should have never given up on me.”

“Let me go!” Drake had to put out the fire. He couldn’t let it spread any farther.

“You’re going to lie here and watch your world burn,” Brody said.

“Really?” Drake looked at Brody incredulously. “You’re misquoting Michael Caine?”

Brody slugged him, and Drake’s head snapped to the side as pain exploded in his head.

“Don’t make fun of me,” Brody snarled. “We’re going to watch your precious house burn to the ground.”

Drake struggled against his cousin’s grip. He had no chance of escape. His only hope was to reason with Brody.

“Please, Brody. You don’t want to do this.”

“Yes I do.” Brody’s grip on Drake tightened, and he dragged him toward the living room. “This is my revenge for making me homeless.”

Drake fought hard to break Brody's hold, but his cousin was much bigger than him. He was desperate and in a state of pure panic. He had to think of something.

Without warning, he brought his knee up and caught Brody in the groin. As his cousin released him with a howl, Drake scrambled to his feet and ran for the extinguisher. He was about to grab it when he felt a massive arm around his neck, choking him. Drake gasped as he struggled against his cousin’s grip.

“Go ahead and struggle,” Brody spat. “I’m going to watch your world burn anyway.”

“You…psycho…bitch.” That was all Drake could get out. His cousin was going to literally squeeze the life out of him.

Drake’s vision began to blur. He managed to grab the fire extinguisher and hit Brody over the head with it. Brody staggered back, and Drake was free. He wasted no time and raced to the living room. He quickly put out the fire with the extinguisher and then ran to his room to grab his phone, dialing Ajax’s number.

“Hey, hon,” Ajax said when he answered. “Miss me already?”

“Brody is here! He set my house on fire and tried to choke me out,” Drake shouted. “Please, get here, Ajax. He’s still in the house!”

Drake screamed and dropped the phone when Brody appeared in the doorway. Blood trickled from his scalp, and he appeared uncoordinated, but he had a firm grip on the door as he rested his arm against it.

“You’re going to pay for that.”

Drake looked around, trying to find something he could use as a weapon. He grabbed an ornate dish that had some weight to it, and then threw it at Brody’s head.

The dish missed and hit the door instead.

When Brody tried to rush him, Drake jumped onto his bed and leapt off the other side, racing out of his bedroom and back toward the kitchen.

If he could get to his back door, he could get out of the house.

But he didn’t make it that far. Brody took him down in the kitchen, sitting on Drake’s back.

“Looks like I’ll have to start that fire again. Only this time I’m going to tie you up.”

A knock sounded on the front door. Drake tried to scream for help, but Brody was fast and clamped a hand over Drake’s mouth.

“Drake, are you home?” Tido shouted from the porch. “Your car is in the driveway. Come on, open up. I really need to talk to you!”

Drake twisted and bucked, but he couldn’t get Brody off of him. The guy weighed a ton.

Then Brody started playing with Drake’s head. One hand was still clamped over Drake’s mouth, but his cousin used his other hand to cover Drake’s forehead.
