“I knew what you meant.” Kenji grabbed the fork and indulged in another bite of the cake.

Tido laughed. He doubted Kenji would offend his parents. The guy was too damn charming. So he was confident that his parents would love Kenji, just as Tido was starting to. His emotions had been conflicted before, when he was hot for Stud Muffin, but now that they were mated, he could feel the bond between them deepening. He trusted Kenji completely and knew that he would do anything to protect him.

But it was more than protection. There was an unspoken depth to the bond they shared, a connection that transcended words. It was a bond forged in the fires of passion, a union that had turned Tido's life upside down. Kenji had stolen his heart, and Tido had willingly given it to him without hesitation.

Kenji looked over at Tido, his eyes soft with affection. “I can’t wait to meet them, Tido. They must be amazing to have raised someone like you.”

Tido blushed, a little embarrassed by the compliment. “Yeah, they’re pretty great. My mom is the best cook, and my dad...Well, he’s a bit of a softy when it comes to his family.”

Kenji chuckled, his hand reaching out to cover Tido’s. “I'm not worried, baby. I can handle your parents.”

Their hands, warm and intertwined, brought a sense of comfort and security to Tido. He knew that Kenji would be there for him, no matter what happened. And as they continued to eat the delicious cake, Tido wondered what the future would hold for him and Kenji. He was excited to share his life with this man who had captured his heart in more ways than one. As sweet as the cake was, the thought of being with Kenji for the rest of his life was even sweeter.

When they were finished, Kenji took the empty plate and glass to the counter, and Tido waved goodbye to Drake.

They headed out into the heat of the morning, climbing into Kenji’s SUV. The ride to Tido’s parents’ house didn’t take long, and as they pulled up to the quaint bungalow, Tido’s heart swelled with pride. This was the place he had grown up in, the place that held so many memories, both happy and sad.

Tido’s parents met Kenji with open arms, just as Tido had expected. His mom welcomed them into the house and offered them a glass of lemonade, while his dad shook Kenji’s hand and made small talk about the weather.

The afternoon passed by in a blur of laughter, good food, and heartfelt conversation. Tido felt a sense of contentment as he watched Kenji and his parents interact, the ease with which they all got along only strengthening the bond between them.

They said their goodbyes to Tido’s parents and left with a promise to return.

Kenji pulled Tido close, his arm wrapping around him in a comforting embrace. “I’m glad they liked me,” he whispered into Tido’s ear.

Tido smiled, looking up into his mate’s warm gaze. “Of course they did. They knew you were perfect for me from the moment they met you.”

Kenji’s eyes softened, and he leaned down to kiss Tido gently, their lips meeting with a tenderness that spoke volumes.

“I don’t know about them thinking I’m perfect for you, but thanks for making me go. It was just what I needed.”

Tido laughed, his heart swelling with affection. “You’re welcome. I’m just glad I could help.”

As the hours passed, Tido and Kenji found themselves sitting on Tido’s porch, watching the sun set over the quaint little town.

Kenji sighed, looking over at Tido. “I don’t know what I would do without you, Tido. You’re everything I ever wanted and more.”

Tido scooted closer to Kenji, wrapping his arms around his neck. “And you’re everything I ever wanted and more too. You’re my world, Kenji.”

It was the god’s honest truth. Tido was shocked and amazed at how quickly Kenji had infused himself into his life. Once again, he had the feeling like he’d known the guy his entire life.

Kenji was charming, easygoing, and loved to laugh. Tido wasn’t sure when it happened, but Kenji had definitely stolen his heart. Was that even possible since they’d just met? Could two people fall in love so quickly? Was it love or simply lust?

Tido’s thoughts scattered when their lips met in a slow, passionate kiss, their bodies swaying in rhythm with the gentle breeze. It was moments like these that Tido treasured, the ones that made him feel like the luckiest man in the world to have found his mate.

As they pulled away from each other, Tido could see something close to love in Kenji’s eyes. “I’m glad you’re here with me. This place is so much more special with you in it.”

Kenji smiled, his hand brushing against Tido’s cheek. “I couldn't agree more. I came to Midnight Falls to get away from my pack, and I found you.”

“Are we the gushiest couple ever?” Tido laughed. “Syrupy-sweet words.”

“But I mean them.” Kenji grinned. “I can’t help it if we sound like the Hallmark Channel.”

Tido laughed. “We’re freshly mated. I think we’re allowed to sound like that.”

Kenji growled. “Let’s go inside and we can be syrupy while getting naked.”

“I like the way you think.”
