“Ajax loves how you look,” Tido pointed out, sincere in his words. “That’s all that matters.”

Drake’s smile was so wicked that Tido could practically see his dirty thoughts. “You have a point.” He wiggled his brows. “The things we do would blow your mind.”

“Shut up and just feed me, bitch.” Tido walked toward the picnic tables on the opposite side of the parking lot. He picked a table that had a huge, colorful umbrella to shade him from the direct sun.

Not only was he too thin but he was fair-skinned and burned easily.

As he waited for Drake to join him, Tido watched as a maroon SUV pulled into the lot.

He knew that damn vehicle. Tido had seen it plenty of times parked in the driveway across the street as he spied on Stud Muffin.

Drake walked Tido’s way with their orders.

“You invited my neighbor?” Tido glanced between Drake and the SUV, wondering how fast he could steal Drake’s car and make a run for it.

Drake looked over his shoulder then shrugged. “It’s a small town, Tido. You two were bound to run into each other eventually.”

Tido glared daggers at Drake. He hated to be set up. Before his best friends had mated, they’d had questionable taste in men, like Tido. “I hope Ajax had his fill of you because I’m about to bury your body behind the ice cream hut.”

“Will you chill? He probably won’t even join us.”

Drake had been on the phone right before he’d come to the window. Tido would bet his left nut that his friend had called Stud Muffin. Coincidence my ass.

A guy like that—who wasn’t even going to be in town for long—looked like he was a heartbreaker. He probably rocked a guy’s world, made the person fall in love with him, then bounced.

No thanks.

After dealing with Alan, Tido was done with men.

For a little while, anyway. He didn’t need to start some steamy fling with Stud Muffin for him to go back to wherever he was from.

Loneliness sucked, but a broken heart was even worse.

Stud Muffin headed to the window, not even looking their way, and Tido gave a tiny sigh of relief.

“See,” Drake said. “I told you he wasn’t here for you.”

“You said no such thing.” Yet Tido kept stealing glances Stud Muffin’s way. Why, oh why was he always attracted to men who were no good for him? It was some kind of curse. Watching his neighbor at the window, the way he gave that girl a charming smile, made Tido’s dick flex a little.

“We should find somewhere else to eat.”

“Why?” Drake had a chili dog close to his mouth. “I unpacked everything already. Our stuff is spread out.”

“Mind if I join you guys?”

Tido went rigid at the sound of Stud Muffin’s deep voice. Of course, he has to have a sexy, late-night radio voice. Tido shouldn’t have looked away from the window. He would have noticed the guy walking their way.

He could have made an escape.

“Sure.” Drake waved a hand at the empty space beside Tido.

There was definitely going to be a murder today. Tido was going to take great joy in strangling Drake to death.

“Kenji, this is my friend Tido.” Looking right at Tido, his eyes glinting with humor, Drake took a bite of his chili dog.

“You’re my neighbor,” Kenji said. “It’s nice to finally meet you.”

“Same.” Tido looked away, praying Kenji didn’t sit there much longer. He felt an instant attraction—stronger than before—as if something inside of him had aligned.
