I moved forward and captured her chin in my palm, lifting her face to look it over fully. “You fucking lied to me.”

She only continued, “Your dad went to prison, so the new goal was to take down his entire empire. All his businesses and everything he cared about. You were the key to doing all of that.”

I tightened my grip, knowing there would be bruises there after today.

I wanted to kill her, but I couldn’t bring my hands to do anything more than hold her there as she spoke. God, she had me fixated on her. She had me ready to drop everything at her feet last night. I would have offered her the world to stay with me, and instead, she’d tried to end my life.

“When I met you, I could have killed you on the spot, but instead, I came into your home to gather information. Everything was strategic. Everything was a manipulation.” She swallowed hard. “Except when you were close to me. When you touched me, I wanted you from that very first day, even though I fought it. And when I finally agreed to lose my virginity to you—”

“You still decided to kill me,” I told her.

She nodded. “Because Valentino told me that you’d been the one to kill my father. He set everything up, and I followed along. Dante, I thought you were the person who took everything from me. Someone came into Gabriel’s house and slipped me a note with information. I went to the address and got the poison. And then…I used it.”

I scoffed and shook my head, straightening my spine as I looked down my nose at her.

“How did they get into Gabriel’s house?” I asked.

“I never saw them. I don’t know who it was or how they did it.”

I’d need to warn him that he had someone capable of getting inside the house. His lack of internal security was the issue, and I’d need to convince him to change his mind. Fuck, this situation kept getting worse.

I refocused on everything else she’d revealed. “I didn’t kill your father, Sienna. I don’t even know his fucking name.”

“Valentino lied.”

Our conversation ran through my mind. Her question about the first person I’d killed. The age I’d been when I’d done it. If her father had died when she’d been eight…

I would have been too young. She hadn’t realized it until after poisoning me.

And that’s why she’d given me the antidote.

I kneeled and pulled my knife free, running the flat over her thighs as I wondered if I’d be able to do this. If I’d be able totorture her. It wouldn’t be for information, I knew. She offered that without even a hint of torture involved.

I knew what needed to be done. I knew that for trying to kill me, I needed to do the same. She deserved to die for what she’d conspired to do, but I couldn’t bring myself to lift the knife from her leg.

She tried to kill me, and then she saved me.

Fuck, it shouldn’t have been this difficult. This decision should have been abundantly easy to make. One swipe of the knife and the problem would be handled.

“I understand,” she said, nodding. “You have to do what you have to do, but I can’t kill you. Not now.”

I finally allowed the question to flow through my lips. The question I’d been holding back during this interrogation. “Is it because you’re pregnant with my baby, or is it someone else’s?”

Sienna

I gasped, wondering how he could possibly know. But I didn’t bother questioning him. I had no right. Not here. “It’s yours. I lied about a lot, but I would never lie about that.”

“You didn’t tell me.”

“I wasn’t going to use a pregnancy to manipulate you,” I shot back. “I wasn’t hiding it, but I didn’t get a chance to tell you. Not when…”

Not when I’d planned to kill youthe same night I found out.

I looked up at him as his eyes turned sorrowful and then adamant. He turned the knife to my knee as I closed my eyes, ready for the pain I deserved. I’d passed judgment on him for his father’s doings. I’d made him suffer, and I’d planned to watch him die.

I deserved whatever he’d dish out.
