Sienna wasmine, and I would do anything to protect those who were mine.

She strode out into the gyms, wearing the same outfit as before. Her red hair hung loosely down her back and shoulders, soaked from the shower she’d taken. “Where do we go from here?” she asked as she approached.

I couldn’t help but notice the still-hardened peaks of her nipples.

If there weren’t more important matters at hand, I would have shown her precisely what I wantedto do. “There are a few things I think I can teach you.”

Her brows shot up in surprise. “You know I let you pin me, right?”

I’d suspected as much. “There are some techniques that the Sicilian mob use to incapacitate enemies that are unique to them. It will catch anyone here by surprise, and it may give you an upper hand. I want to show you.”

“Right now?” she asked, looking over herself.

“As long as you try not to kill me in the process.”

She scowled at me, narrowing her eyes. “That’s not funny,” she deadpanned.

I only smiled wickedly and guided her back toward the mats.

Sienna

I strode through the front doors of the house that had become my teenage home. The tight wire wrapped around my waist, and the hidden microphone brushed against my skin, leaving it itchy, but I ignored it.

I was here for a reason.

Valentino’s guards stood watch at the front door, and I nodded to them as I passed, giving the usual greeting. I recognized their faces, but I’d never bothered learning their names—not when Valentino often went off in a rage and killed whichever guards had inconvenienced him that day.

Their names weren’t a burden I wanted to carry.

I bit my bottom lip as soon as I passed them, considering the guards at Dante’s house. They were consistent, and I’d learned almost all their names in the few weeks I’d been there.

I couldn’t imagine Dante killing his guards for minor inconveniences.

Nobody dared approach me or stop me as I strode straight into the back section of the house toward the office that Valentino all but lived in. It wasn’t unusual for me to arrive after a mission and go straight to his office.

The only difference was my intentions this time.

I needed to know the truth. The whole truth. I needed to hear his betrayal through his own lips. I needed to confirm the lies and deceptions. I needed to understand how he’d try to justify them.

I supposed I needed closure more than anything.

And Dante…well, he hadn’t exactly liked this idea. The microphone was our compromise. He’d claimed that going behind enemy lines alone was a risk, and he’d be close by, listening for any indication of trouble.

I knew my safetyandloyalty concerned him, and I couldn’t blame him for the precaution. I had tried to kill him mere days ago, and now I wanted to go back to my stepfather and have a conversation. Dante would be stupid not to take precautions.

I pushed through Valentino’s door without knocking the way I’d done for years and found him in his usual spot behind the desk. He poured over whatever he read on his computer screen. His eyes only lingered on me for a moment before refocusing on the screen. It was a power move he’d used my whole life—making me wait until he decided my presence was important enough to address.

Dante would never do this to me.

I shook off the comparison and moved forward, waiting just at the other side of his desk. I didn’t push. I didn’t do anything but wait.

It was nearly two minutes before he bothered to lean away from the screen and look at me. “I didn’t get reports that it had been done,” Valentino said accusingly.

I knew I had to walk this line carefully. I couldn’t admit to my betrayal and walk out of here alive. Not before I got information. “That’s because it’s not done.”

“Then why the hell are you back in my house?”
