“I finished and submitted that post I’d been working on for my blog.” I shrug. “We’ll see how it goes.”

“I’m so glad you’re doing something you love,” he says when I finish. “You’re so talented, starlight. You deserve all the success in the world.”

I blush and look down at my plate. “Thank you,” I murmur.

We continue to eat, and the conversation flows easily. Ash tells me about his day chopping wood for winter and fishing. We talk about our plans for the future, our dreams, and our aspirations. I’d never felt so hopeful for the future until I met this man.

After eating, Ash clears the table and brings two glasses of wine. He hands me one, and we sit on the couch before the fire.

We sip our wine and talk longer about nothing in particular. Just enjoying each other’s company.

Eventually, Ash takes my hand and looks into my eyes.

“Lila,” he says, his voice low and husky, “I’ve got something to ask you.”

My heart starts to race. “What is it?”

He drops to one knee before me and it feels like my world is spinning. And then he pulls out a stunning vintage engagement ring with a huge sapphire in the center. “Will you marry me?”

I stare at him for a moment, stunned. Tears well up in my eyes. “Yes,” I say, my voice trembling. “Yes, Ash, I’ll marry you.”

He smiles and pushes the ring onto my finger before pulling me into his arms. I can feel his heart beating against my chest.

“I love you so much,” he whispers. “I can’t imagine my life without you.”

“I love you too,” I say. “More than anything in the world.”

We kiss, and it’s a kiss full of love and passion. I feel like I’m melting into him. When we finally pull away, Ash rests his forehead against mine.

“I promise to love you forever,” he says. “I promise to protect you and make you happy.”

I believe him. I know that he will.

We sit there for a long time, holding each other and enjoying the moment. I feel like I’m the luckiest woman in the world.

I’ve found my soulmate in the most fucked up and unconventional way. And I know I’ll spend the rest of my life with him. It’s hard to believe something so beautiful blossomed from one of the darkest experiences of my life.

I can’t wait to continue our new life together.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a year since Ash, a dangerous fugitive, kidnapped me from the side of the road, forever intertwining our lives in a twisted dance of fear, desire, and ultimately, love.

Together, we’ve carved out a life for ourselves in this remote Alaskan wilderness, far away from the chaos and judgment of the outside world. Here, we’re free to be ourselves and explore the depths of our passion without fear or shame.

I close my eyes and silently thank the universe for bringing Ash into my life. I know our journey is far from over, but I’m ready for whatever it may bring. I’ve got Ash by my side, and that’s all I need.
