I pinched his ass, but he only chuckled and planted a loud, smacking kiss on my cheek. “Pats game is about to start,” he said, “and since there’s not much room, you better sit on my lap.”

“With or without clothes?” I asked, grinding my semi against his.

“Behave, sweet boy.”

“Or what?”

“He’ll spank your ass red,” JJ stated loudly, and a few snickers sounded from the living room.

But I didn’t give a flying fuck. Not when Matteo gazed at me like I hung the sun in the sky.

Chapter 35

Matteo

The semester ended, leaving me free to head south for the holidays with my family. Since Sean had zero interest in spending that time around his father, he agreed to accompany me to South Carolina to meet my parents.

I shouldn’t have worried about the fact I’d fallen for a man.

Mom snagged hold of Sean the second we walked into the house, yanked him into her arms, and cried happy tears for a full-on five minutes. Even Dad got choked up.

“Hey, little bro,” Alessia said in way of a greeting to him, and Sean’s face had split into a grin.

But it was Claire-bear who’d stabbed absolute joy through my heart when she’d walked right up to him and looked up at him with adoring eyes.

“You’re cute, Uncle Sean,” she declared.

My sweet boy’s lower lip actually trembled, and he squatted down to her level. “And I’ve never seen such a beautiful little lady,” he replied, his voice rasped. “The rainbow tutu? Slay, girl.”

She didn’t hesitate to throw her arms around him, and he had no choice but to pick her up and stand again. She snuggled into him, happy as a princess who’d found her prince.

I understood. Oh, how I did.

“Someone is smitten,” Alessia whispered while hugging me after my boyfriend and his precious cargo followed Mom and Dad into the living room.

I hope you find happiness. I hope you find peace.

The words I always said over Katie’s gravestone whispered through my mind like a gentle caress, tightening my throat. I would never forget the love I’d shared with her—and I would remember her always.

But I’d made a promise to her, and I looked forward to living the rest of my days with the man who’d brought me what she’d wished for.

I had to clamp my hand over Sean’s mouth to keep him quiet on Christmas Eve. When I railed him from behind, he tended toward noisy, and while I usually got off on hearing him beg for me to thrust harder, deeper, my parents and Alessia down the hall wouldn’t.

We collapsed onto the bed once finished, and I peeled off the condom I’d put on so we wouldn’t have a mess to clean up.

“Hate those fucking things,” he muttered, tossing aside the towel I’d laid down beneath him to keep our sheets free of cum.

“I promise when we get home, I’ll flood your ass with cum so you can feel it leak out of your sore hole.”

“Mmm, talk dirty to me, baby.”

Snickering, I pulled him against my side even though we’d worked up a sweat and would need a quick shower before sleeping. While we caught our breath, I trailed my fingertips down his spine, my mind wandering as it often did to that fantasy I’d brought up a few weeks back.

“Not tired of me yet?” I asked, unable to help the insecurities that sometimes roused in my head. At least Sean appreciated my being candid about them.

“No fucking way,” he didn’t hesitate to answer, propping his chin on my chest so he could see my face with the help of the open blinds allowing the full moon to cast soft golden beams over us. “I love you as-is, Teach. What we have is more than enough.”

“You…love me?”
