“My eyes are up here,” he says with a snort.
“Yes, well… Are you really sticking around?”
“I am.”
“But…”
“I moved around a lot as a PI. I have zero issues moving back here.”
“People will recognize you.”
“That was a decade ago.”
“I recognized you immediately.
“I’m not worried about it.” He drapes the towel over my shower rod.
“Aren’t you going to put clothes on?”
“I need to wash them first. In a hurry to get rid of me?”
“It’s getting late.”
“Kicking my naked ass out?”
“Did you come here expecting to worm your way into my bed?” I demand, hands on hips.
He yanks my towel off me. “You missed a spot.”
Jesse uses his finger to capture a bead of water from between my breasts. He then licks it off his finger.
“You’re ridiculous,” I inform him.
“I’m crazy for you. That’s what I am.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“I have a hotel room booked,” he says. “Can I use your washer and dryer?”
“Of course you can, but you don’t need to go to the hotel room unless you want to.”
“Are you going to make me sleep on the couch?”
“Would you mind?” I ask, tilting my head.
“No, so long as I get to sleep with your pillow and blanket so I can smell you.”
I roll my eyes and grab his hand. “Come on. Let’s throw your clothes in the washer.”
“And then go to bed and put them in the dryer in the morning?” he asks hopefully.
“Maybe.”
That’s exactly what happens. We went to bed after washing his clothes. At one point, I woke in the middle of the night and almost freaked out that someone was in bed with me before his arm wrapped around me and I could smell him. I must’ve made a sound because he stirred, and we ended up making love again.
I’m sore as I climb out of bed. He already went to the laundry room to put his clothes in the dryer, and now, he stands in my doorway.
I eye him as he leans against the doorframe, his arms crossed. Then, I sniff. “You made coffee?”
