Dylan crosses his arms. “So, what’s our move?”
I smirk as the wheels churn. “We don’t let them dictate the rules. We find out who Scepter is and what they want, and we neutralize the threat or… We feed them intel and use them to help weaken our enemies.”
Xavier clenches his fists. “I won’t let anyone jeopardize our enterprise.”
Jesse winks at me. “Let the games begin.”

My brother frowns. “From what I could gather, he was a big player in Texas, involved in drug trafficking and variousillicit activities. Recently, he decided to expand his operations to California.”
I scowl. “Great. Just what we needed.”
He nods and then adds, “It gets worse. Rumor has it he’s not here to play nice. Anderson wants a piece of the action, and he won’t hesitate to step on anyone in his way.”
I rub my temples. “Lovely. We’ll need to tread carefully. Find out more about his connections, allies, and weaknesses. I don’t want there to be any surprises.”
My brother nods again, his expression as serious as can be. “I’m on it. He’s already making waves. Our networks are buzzing with his influence.”
“Between him and Scepter…”
“I know. Enemies closing in.”
“They can try, but we rose from the ashes of the Shadow Syndicate. We can do it again.”
“Damn straight.”

Getting a little desperate, I call and ask Damian for a meeting.
“I would love to,” he purrs, “but I’m a little busy at the moment.”
“Next week works for me,” I say.
“I’m sorry. I’m… Let’s see. How about next month?”
My jaw drops. “Ah, let me know when works for you.”
“Will do.”
And he hangs up.
