Page 100 of Stuck Behind Her

She nods her head. “Now go before Mom changes her mind about me going,” she urges. I let out a laugh, then turn on the car and drive onto the road.

After some time, we get to the airport. I drive in, decreasing my speed, as I look for the entrance Oliver told me about. “Ellie, you’re going to stick with Oliver now since there will be a lot of people. You can’t be seen with me, so please be careful and stay with him,” I warn her. Not everyone knows I’m departing today, but people will notice me here.

“Okay. But are we going to have to deal with them the whole time?” she asks.

I shake my head, though I know she can’t see it much. “Don’t worry, once we get in, we just have to move past them. We have a rented waiting area, and on the plane I’m sure we won’t be bothered. I’ll make sure of it, considering I’m not the only famous one,” I tell her, parking to the side when I see Oliver. I see her nod her head, unbuckling her seat belt. Oliver leans in through the open window. “Take care of her,” I tell him.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let her out of my sight. Let me get your bags.”

I open the trunk, and he takes out the items and places them in a small cart. The trunk closes when he’s done, and Ellie gets out of the car. They cross the street and enter the airport, and I leave once I make sure they are in safely.

I continue to the parking area, where two bodyguards are waiting for me. Thank God they are, since it feels like it might take me hours to get inside through the crowds of fans.

When I finally get to the departure lounge, Ellie, Oliver, and his wife are there. And Lorenzo, surprisingly.

“Hey,” he greets me, standing up when he sees me.

“That’s not fair. You’re rich and known, and yet, no one bothers you,” I grumble. He laughs at my complaint, but doesn’t answer my comment. Ellie is sitting in the corner, on her device. “They’re coming soon, please don’t expose the hell out of me, Ellie.” She hides her face behind the screen.

Aurora and Elaina won’t see her immediately; the place is too big. But when they do, it’ll be pretty obvious what’s going on.

I then walk up to Oliver and his wife, who are talking as of now. “Hey Mrs. Brooks,” I greet. She looks towards me, smiling. Her hair is a medium brown, with golden highlights, and her hazel eyes are bright.

“Val. It’s nice to finally meet you. Oliver has told me a lot about you,” she says.

“It’s nice to meet you too. Thank you so much for coming, and I hope we didn’t ruin any of your holiday plans.”

She shakes her head softly, keeping her smile consistent. “Don’t worry about it. I was looking for something to do anyway.”

“We’ll, I hope the trip is to your liking. And for the whole guardian situation, trust me, you won’t have to do much, it’s just for precautions,” I assure her. She then nods her head, and soon turns back to Oliver. He said she was fine with coming even if she had to be seen as a supervisor for Eliana and Ellie, but it still felt wrong to bring her for such reasons.

After a while, Oliver comes in with Aurora and Elaina, each dragging some luggage. Aurora is wearing sweatpants and a sweater, her hair tied up. Elaina is wearing almost the same thing, but her hair in two braids. “I hope we’re not late,” she says, and I stand up to greet her.

“Just on time.”

“Elias is coming, he’s just getting some things,” she tells me, smiling. She looks just as excited as Ellie. Elaina, however, looks the opposite.

“Hey Elaina.”

“Hi. Just so you know, I’m not as big of a fan as Aurora. I’m not a hater though. My friend likes you, too, so it’s not really a choice,” she comments, and Aurora closes her eyes in irritation. Now I know why she and Ellie get along.

“Don’t worry, you aren’t the only one,” I answer her.

“Also, Aurora said someone my age was coming,” she continues.

“Yes, they’re hiding somewhere over there. Trust me, you’ll know them when you see them.”

Elaina then runs off, looking for Ellie cluelessly. I can already imagine the surprise she’ll have when she sees her.

After she runs off, Oliver returns with Elias, both of them carrying bags. When he comes in, I notice purple hues on his left eye. My eyes widen. “Your eye. What happened?” I ask. It was fine a couple of days ago.

“He won’t say anything.” Aurora gives me a heads up. Is he okay? It’s bruised, that means it must’ve been a hit. I release a deep breath. Don’t think about this now. Don’t think about him.

“Uh, anyway, since you’re all here, just some things to know. I have my own guest,” On that note, Lorenzo comes and stands next to me.

Aurora looks at him, surprised. There are many surprises today. “I told you I might have plans,” he tells her. He then shifts his gaze to Elias, but doesn’t say anything. Neither of them does. He just death-stares him. I realize they’re both just looking at each other.

“Is something wrong with you two?” Aurora asks.
