I still need a second winner for the event. Most of the trip has been planned and fixed, Oliver made sure to account for guests and such. Even for me, since I’m still considering Lorenzo. Even plane rides are ready, but they’re not assigned to anyone yet. Not until I find a second winner. Honestly, it’s harder than I thought it would be.

We both get to Lorenzo’s locker, where Elias and Aurora are standing, talking to each other. Lorenzo heads toward his locker, right next to where Elias is standing. “Hello everyone.” Hegreets, waving before looking down to open the lock. I get there after him, also greeting them.

“Be careful with that,” Elias warns, looking at Lorenzo. He finally opens the lock, slipping it out of the hole.

“Of wha—” Lorenzo asks, then opens his locker and a bunch of paper falls out. Looking closer, I see that many of them are envelopes in a million shades of pink, and all of them fall to Lorenzo’s feet. He looks down, and I burst out laughing, covering my mouth with the palm of my hand.

I know what those are. I’d know from a mile away—from experience obviously. Love notes, or fangirl notes. I guess the word has spread about Lorenzo’s admission in the school. Unlike Elias, who apparently no one can spot without his last name being known because of his hidden public appearance, Lorenzo is more well-known. He’s one of the top designers, and is known through his image and name, so it was only a matter of time that students at the school would find out somehow.

Lorenzo frowns, kneeling down to pick one up. I look to the side to see Elias grinning. This is funny, I can’t deny that. It’s karma, if anything. He wants fame, and here it is. I have to deal with things like this almost every day.

He stands back up, reading the name on the back of the envelope before opening it. A small card is inside. He pulls it out, revealing the scribbles of ink on it.

“Dear Lorenzo, I love you so so so much, please become a few years younger so I can date you please, heart drawing. Love your freshman girlfriend that you didn’t know you had.”

He reads it the note to the rest of us, and another burst of laughter leaves me.

He turns to me and gives me an offended look, which only makes me laugh more. “Stop, it is not funny,” he demands.

“Oh, no, it’s hilarious. Karma,” I say. He’s never tasted the real struggle of fame, so he definitely deserves to deal with this. And I definitely deserve to laugh. Lorenzo kneels down to pile up all the envelopes, then walks to the trash can and drops them inside.

“What, you're not gonna read the love notes from the other ‘girlfriends’ you didn’t know about?” I mock, making speech marks when I say the wordgirlfriends. He scrunches his face at me, walking back to pick up the rest. Elias kneels down to help, his face bright with a teasing smile.

They both pick up the rest and head to the trash to throw them out. This is so entertaining. I finish teasing him and turn to Aurora. “So, how are you?” I ask her.

“Good. You?”

“Good.”

“Did you check your biology mark? For last week’s test?” she asks. Biology mark? Oh yes, we did a test last week. Not that I care about the mark, but I’m trying not to look suspicious, so I get my phone from my back pocket and open it.

“Nope. Let me check,” I tell her, opening the app and tapping the science logo. It loads, revealing all the marks I’ve received since I’ve been at the school. I take one glance at it, and bring my hand to my mouth. I blink a couple of times to make sure I’m looking at it right. Wow. I’ve even surprised myself.

“What’s wrong?” I hear Elias ask. I raise my head, still holding my phone.

“She said she was checking her bio mark, but I honestly don’t know if that means it’s good or bad,” Aurora replies. Oh my God, I’m actually dumb. How could I be so dumb? I thought biology was the one science I was exceptional in. Never mind, I think that’s physics.

“Oh, that means it's bad. First, Vi sucks at science. Second, she wouldn’t be this shocked if it was a good mark,” Lorenzoexplains, coming to stand next to me. I drop both my hands, placing my phone back in my jeans back pocket before switching my gaze to Lorenzo at my side. He raises his eyebrows.

“I mean, I knew I was dumb, but I didn’t think I was that bad,” I tell him, practically laughing at myself. Although Lorenzo wouldn’t be surprised. He knows that I’m not great at almost any academic subject.

“Come on, it can’t be that bad,” Elias says. He’d be surprised. Lorenzo keeps looking at me, waiting for an answer. I don’t say it out loud at first, and instead mouth the number. Thirty-four. His eyes widen.

“What?!” he asks, surprised.

“That’s what I said!” I exclaim.

“Wow, I don’t remember you being this bad at school.” Oh, wow. That’s nice of him to say. Aurora and Elias look at each other in confusion. I don’t blame them; I would be confused as well. I pin my arms to my stomach. I am actually so glad these marks don’t mean anything to me. I would’ve cried if they did.

“You’d rather not know,” Lorenzo tells him. Aurora crosses her arms, narrowing her eyes at him. They definitely aren’t taking that for an answer.

“Thirty-four. Percent,” I answer. Aurora chokes. On nothing. That’s how bad it is. Elias is surprised but doesn’t show it much. His eyes widen partially, but his face remains neutral. I mean, he knows I failed a grade—and I hate that he knows that—so this shouldn’t be that much of a surprise to him. “I’m not the best in sciences. Or school in general,” I admit, as if excusing myself. I drop my hands.

“It’s not . . . bad. I mean, you’re new to the school, so that could explain it,” Aurora attempts to assure me, trying to make me feel better. I smile at her attempt.

“It’s bad, you don’t have to lie,” I tell her, rubbing my forehead.

“Why don’t you get someone to help you? Doesn’t have to be a tutor specifically,” Elias asks. Simple answer. Because I don’t even need to go to school. And because my education is far gone. I can’t say that, though.
