Page 50 of Sinister Lies

It was more or less the truth. My intimacy streak wasn’t as sky high as Isaac’s, but that was mostly because my other issues tended to get in the way. Every now and then I’d step outside of my comfort zone and find a random girl around campus who I think can handle my level of fun, but of course, my aggressiveness in the bedroom always ran them off.

“And you don’t think it’s time you fix that problem?” he asked, with a stupefied look etched on his face.

I pinned him with another glare.

“Okay, fine.” He threw up his hands, accepting defeat. “I rest my case.”

“You’re fucking annoying.”

I followed him out with my phone in hand and together we made the long journey out to the clearing. Earlier, I gave one of the guards permission to deliver my giant but portable, JBL speaker I kept in my closet out to the tree stumps. Just like I was expecting, the speaker, the booze, and all the extra tables and chairs we’d ordered were set up when we arrived.

I synced my phone to the speaker and then hit PLAY on my EDM playlist while Isaac scurried over to help Rhett light the bonfire.

Within minutes, kids were swarming in like moths to a flame.

THE PARTY WAS fucking jumping. In just two hours we’d scored over two grand and kids werestilllining back up, begging for more.

“Have you seen Rhett?” I asked Isaac, who was sitting beside me on the smaller stump, handling business while I shuffled through my playlist.

“Negative,” Isaac replied, dropping yet another fifty-dollar bill in the bag. “Just let him have his fun. I’m sure he’s okay.”

“Go look for him. We need to make sure he isn’t floating head first in the lake.”

“Why can’t you do it?”

I gestured to my phone and nudged my thumb to the speaker behind me. “Because you two asshats left me with no choice but to DJ tonight since you didn’t bother trying to find a replacement.”

Isaac offered me a menacing smirk and rolled his eyes. “Blame Rhett. Not me.”

He got up, which was actually a wise choice because I didn’t feel like arguing with him and spoiling my good mood. I didn’t want to think about this bullshit going on with the cops, Rhett killing Brian, none of it. I wouldn’t have even found out about it if it weren’t for the cops invading our turf, questioning everybody, and then Rhett’s reaction when Headmaster Higgins called our father yesterday with the news. All Rhett did was laugh.

He. Fucking. Laughed.

Shaking my head to rid it out of existence, I finished up with the last of our business transactions and shoved the money down as deep as possible. The weed was damn near wiped out, but there was a substantial amount of coke and pills leftover. I had high hopes we could make at least another grand tonight, depending on how stupidly irresponsible these kids decided to be with their rich parents’ money.

“Did you find him?” I asked when I looked up and saw Isaac heading towards me with a massive grin on his face.

“Oh yeah. I found him. He’s out there dancing and feeling up Janice.”

“Janice?” I spat in disbelief. “You mean Kinsley’s friend?”

“Yep.”

“Bro, don’t let him lose his V-card to that chlamydia spreading slut.”

“She got treated for it,” was his idiotic reply. “She’s clean.”

“That’s not the fucking point, Isaac, and you know it.”

I got up, knowing Rhett was about to make one of the biggest mistakes of his life.

“Leave him be, Phantom. Relax. Go make yourself a drink and just enjoy the party.”

I looked around, desperate to spot Rhett, when I briefly glanced up, spotting someone else instead. Someone who was making their way down the trail and towards the party.

Samara.

Yeah. Looked like I’d be having a drink or two after all.
