“The florist just cancelled our order, she double booked and has gone with the other couple, how could she, what are we going to do?” She puts her head in her hands and starts crying again. Dan looks lost. I look at Charlie, I think she feels a little uncomfortable, she doesn’t know them that well, but I have an idea.

“We’ll sort it out Em, don’t worry,” Dan says, eyeing Jack.

“Charlie, help me get a few more drinks?” She looks a little suspicious but gets up and follows me to the kitchen anyway. When the door closes behind us I grab her and just look at her.

“You’re acting weird, why are you looking at me like that?” She moves to the fridge and gets out more wine and beer for us all.

“You can help,” I say, and take some of the bottles from her, putting them on the island.

“I am helping, I’ve got the wine.”

“No, I mean you can do the flowers for her!”

“Oh…um…you’re right, I can, I know I could, do you think she would let me?” I smile, getting excited for her, her first job as a florist.

“There is only one way to find out, walk in there and tell her you can help.” She is nervous, I can tell but this would beamazing. “She will love that it’s you!” My smile widens, the more I think about it the more excited I get.

“Okay!” She picks up the wine, and I take the beer for Jack and the cokes for Dan and Em.

Charlie walks in first and sets the wine on the table, I refill our glasses and hand Em her Coke. She’s still upset, I can’t blame her, I’d be if it were me. Charlie sits on the floor in front of Em, and places her hand on her knee; when she looks up all she says is, “I’ll do it, I’ll make your wedding flowers.” Jack, Dan and Em all look up at the same time.

“What?” They all say together

“I’ll make your wedding flowers, that’s why I quit my job in London, I’ve been training to be a florist, I’ve bought the shop in the town, I have all my suppliers ready and waiting for orders, I just need to set it all up. You would be my first official client and I’d be honoured if you would have me.” Wow, I’m going to cry, I’m so proud; with everything she’s going through, to do this is so kind of her.

“YES! I’ll have you, oh my...fucking hell…you’re a wedding saver!” Em shouts and we all laugh, pleased the situation has been resolved so quickly.

“Right girls we have stuff to organise, I’ll show you what I’m after, will you have enough time?”

“I have plenty of time on my hands, I got the keys and have moved into the flat above the shop, so I can start tomorrow. Show me what you need.” The smile on Em’s face says it all.

With that, Em jumps up and grabs another folder. Inside are all the decorations and ideas for the wedding day—buttonholes, flower arches, flower displays, centrepieces, bouquets and flower crowns. There’s so much, I would have no idea where to start; Charlie on the other hand, just takes pictures and nods like it’s nothing. She even starts to add suggestions aboutalternatives and add-ons that Em could have, and she agrees to it all.

“I’ll cover the cost of it all Charlie, just send me the bill. Do you need anything upfront?” Jack chimes in, a while later.

“I’ll speak to my suppliers first and let you know, thanks Jack.”

“If this goes well Charlie, we would consider you for the Manor’s flowers. We have a weekly order with a company about an hour away, but I’d rather use local if I can.” Jack adds, making the whole situation feel even better. Her face lights up, like she can’t believe her luck.

“Wow, Jack, that’s amazing, thanks!” We all settle into the sofa, still doing the favours, adding labels to bottles, chatting about nothing when Charlie says, “I hear you own a club in Ibiza Jack?”

“Yep, sure do, it’s under refurbishment at the moment, but hopefully we’ll open in a month or so.”

“I love Ibiza, we went once, do you remember Mil? It was a while back, but we had the best time. Dressed up as superheroes one night too, it was hilarious.” I can feel my cheeks flush, oh I remember all right, Jack just smiles that smile, knowing Charlie has no idea, it was him I slept with, I hope to god she doesn’t.

“I remember you disappeared for an entire day.”Oh god, no.“The night after we dressed up, we were going home that day too. I had no idea where you were, only a text from you saying you were okay, and you would be back later.”Please don’t say anything else.Jack is trying his hardest to conceal a smile, it’s not working.

“Where did you go Millie?” Jack smirks, I’m not sure it’s possible but I can feel the heat in my face. I must be bright red.

“Well, all she told me was that she went to see the guy that helped her out the night before, and ended up having the best sex of her life…”Why oh why,I bury my face in my hands, this woman,I’m going to kill her.But I can’t help but giggle so I’llplay along. “I mean can you imagine our Millie, sneaking off and having hot sex with a total stranger?” She smirks at me. I’d really forgotten how inappropriate she could be sometimes.

“Well it was one of those one-time things.” Jack raises his eyebrows at me as I say it.

“A one-time thing, really?” he questions.

“Yep, he was hot, but he knew it, wasn’t like he was relationship material.”

“Oh really?” he says mockingly, “not relationship material, but the best sex you ever had?” Of course he picked up on that bit.
