“Wider!” I yell.

He shakes his head at me.

I race Steele to the puck and shove him into the glass. He lets out anoof, and I skate up to the top of the zone with the stolen puck.

“She’s a filthy player.” Steele laughs. “What the fuck?”

We’re currently tied. One to one.

Knox and I play keep-away for a little while, and I look down the lane at Miles. My wrist shot has always been dirty as hell, and now is no different. Knox delivers the puck perfectly, and I twist my wrist and send the puck sailing.

It fucking floats. Miles reaches for it, but it hits the top bar and shoots down.

Going in.

Knox rushes me. “We won! We’re the winners! You did it!”

I laugh and tear my helmet off, hugging him tightly. I know it’s just a game, but it feels good to begoodat something again. Not that I was ever bad at writing—minus the whole writer’s block thing—but there was the whole existing thing for a bit. My heart was bad at working.

Oh my God, Knox’s rambling is infectious.

“Sunshine.” Knox plants me back on my feet.

He immediately goes down, so fast that I reach for him thinking he fell. But then he looks up at me, and the pose…

“What are you doing?” My voice is wary.

“I want to give you the big wedding.” His eyes are glassy.

Or maybe it’s just my imagination?

He blinks rapidly, squeezing my hands. “I know you didn’t get that. The dream wedding with the perfect white dress and your dad walking you down the aisle and everything. The party. You know I love you. That I’d do anything for you.” His voice wavers. “Let me give you the wedding you missed out on. Let’s start our life over again—the right way.”

I’ve got a lump in my throat.

This time, when my heart skips a beat, I know it’s because I’m absolutely, a hundred percent in love with Knox Whiteshaw.

And that I have been since the beginning. As he said to me:obviously.

So the answer is simple. “Yes, please.”

THE END
