Then types in the name I just called her.

Sunny the Betrayer.

A nice name for what she did. I wanted to go more drastic, but I couldn’t help it. I felt guilty. I felt freshly heartbroken, and for the first time in my life, I was devastated. I didn’t know what the word meant until I headed back to college right after winter break, knowing I would never talk to her again.

I focus back in on Aurora.

She’s shaking her head slowly, clenching my phone so fucking tight her knuckles are white. Her hand is trembling.

“This isn’t fair,” she says. “You think I betrayed you?”

My mind goes to Willow again.

And then my brother.

I’ve tried so hard to repair things with him. After my mother tried to talk sense into me, into shoving reason in my face. I know I fucked up with them. Willow and Miles. More Miles than Willow, though.

“Knox. How did I betray you?”

My lip curls. “It’s funny that your memory is so poor, Aurora.”

She flinches. She doesn’t like me calling her that any more than I do. She can’t make up her damn mind when it comes to me.

But she does decide something, because she hits the button to roll down her window—and then out goes my phone.

I open and close my mouth.

She rolls it up and sits back, staring straight ahead. Her lips are pressed in a firm line. I shouldn’t have made her wear that dress with no bra. She crosses her arms under her breasts and lifts them, practically forcing me to stare at them.

Never mind that she just threw my phone out the window.

Or that she doesn’t seem remotely bothered by my impending reaction.

Except, I’m not having a reaction. Nothing except… humor.

A laugh bubbles out of me, and once the dam breaks, I can’t get it under control. The driver must think we’re crazy. He glances back at us once, twice. I laugh to myself about the absurdity of what we’re doing.

I just heard her scream every curse under the sun as she orgasmed. Eight times, if my count is correct. Only once by my finger, and that was kind of an accident. In fact, I’m not sure how she even has her wits about her.

“You’re insane,” she mutters, finally meeting my gaze.

“You threw my phone out the window. You’re insane.”

“You had someone in your phone named Mandy Big Tits.”

I smile. “She had honkers.”

Her nose wrinkles. Have I ever thought noses were cute? Not ’til Aurora fucking McGovern. No. Aurora fuckingWhiteshaw.

I’m just captivated by everything about her like I’m seventeen again.

“Did you ever have a meaningful relationship with any of them?” she asks.

My smile fades fast. “No.”

Her witch eyes stare at me. That’s what they are. Mostly green, the splotch of blue. They fascinate me and ensnare me and bespell me. It’s dangerous to look her in the eye for too long.

“You haven’t had a relationship? Ever?”
