“Good,” she said, looking at me intently.

“Ash needs someone who can bring out the fun in him again and give his life a bit of excitement!” she laughed and winked at him.

He grinned widely at me.

“I’m not so sure about that,” I laughed, “I think it is more a case that your brother has brought quite a lot of excitement to mine!”

“And I intend to bring a lot more!” Ash whispered in my ear, making me shiver and bite my lower lip while thinking some very wicked thoughts.

Sonia was looking between us again with an odd look on her face. She turned to me and suddenly hugged me.

“Thank you so much for rescuing my brother.” And I had a strange feeling she wasn’t just talking about last night.

I guessed news travelled fast in the Rominov family.

“You’re welcome,” I said, my face flaming with all this attention.

“Come on, let’s get you inside,” Ash said, taking my hand and leading me into a very grand entrance hall.

I stared around in awe. There was a long hall on the left with several doors leading off it and a staircase leading up on the right with marble flooring and the requisite chandelier, as expected, for such a wonderful space. Oh my!

Ash showed me up to a guest room, which was large and decorated like something you would expect to see in a luxury hotel. I could definitely get used to this.

He showed me the bathroom. The bath was huge, as was the shower. Both could easily fit two, and I found my mind going to places it shouldn’t when I looked at them. His mind must have been going there, too, because he came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me.

“I could use a shower; want to join me?” he murmured.

I gulped and stepped out of his arms, feeling a cross between the desire to embrace my new sassy warrior woman side and make my inner devil happy by saying yes, please, and the desire to run and hide as would be my usual reaction. I wanted him, but things were moving a little too fast for me right now. He smirked.

“Maybe another time, sweetheart?” he said, winking, and it wasn’t quite a statement and not quite a question, but more like a promise for the future.

I desperately held back a yawn, not wanting him to think I was bored by the thought. Far from it, my insides were going crazy at the idea, but I was exhausted and really needed to get some sleep.

“Okay, sweetheart, I need a shower, so I’m heading to my room. It’s opposite, along the hall, the last door on the right if you need me. Why don’t you get settled in and maybe take a nap, as I guess you didn’t get any sleep last night? Lunch is served at 1 p.m. in the dining room. I’ll see you there,” he said before leaning in and kissing me on the forehead.

He headed to the door, then suddenly turned and strode back, took my face between his hands, and kissed me quickly and deeply on the lips before leaving the room with the parting shot, “Sweet dreams, Gracie!”

Wow, oh wow!I suddenly felt damp down below, and I was sure any dreams I had would definitely be sweet and very definitely filled with him and his kisses! In fact, after that kiss, that was the sort of dream I absolutely needed. I quickly unpacked and then threw back the quilt, jumped into the bed, and snuggled down, hugging the pillow, wishing it were Ash! Oh, I definitely had it bad!

CHAPTER 18

ASH

STILL SATURDAY MORNING - TAKING GRACIE HOME

Iwalked to my room deep in thought, my steps lighter than they had been in a long time. Although Sonia had embarrassed me by making me apologise to Gracie in front of her, I was glad that she had because now that it was over, we could move on.

Also, now Gracie knew that I had been planning on asking her out and that I already liked her way before the events of the last few hours. I wanted her to know that I had been thinking of her since our first kiss. I was secretly hoping she had been thinking of me since then, too. The way she had reacted to me, I believed she just might have been, and that thought had me elated.

I hadn’t been able to stop touching Gracie all the way back to the Estate and had kept a tight hold of her hand. She hadn’t protested, and I could tell from her shy smile and blush that she liked it.

She was such a contradiction. She had a certain shy innocence about her, yet she also had a fiery side. When we first met, her sass and kiss had made me hot; the thought of her rescuing me had made me hotter, but this latest act of bravery had me burning for her in a way I’d never felt before.

When I’d shown her the bathroom, I had teased her with the suggestion that we shower together. I was delighted when I noticed the flare of interest in her eyes. She was definitely interested, but she was also shy, and the way she had bitten down on her lip had been utterly adorable. My cock had jerked in response, but her nervous reaction told me her feelings on the subject were mixed.

So, I left her to get some well-deserved rest. That was for the best because despite my unruly member making its ire known by throbbing like mad, I really wasn’t up to doing anything more than sleeping, and neither was she. We were both exhausted from all we had been through.

Exhaustion didn’t seem to bother my cock, though. I adjusted myself to take the pressure off as I paused just outside my bedroom. I threw a look back along the hall to her door. I longed to return to Gracie’s room and sink my cock into her, but instead, I resolutely turned, walked into my own room, and closed the door firmly behind me. There would be plenty of time for slacking my desire and giving my cock exactly what it wanted later, I consoled myself. Of course, the bugger still refused to be appeased and maintained its erect state as I read the text from Anton confirming his men were on their way.
