“Weird that they have his hair color in there,” Willa says.

“I think we’ve established that titles aren’t their strong suit.”

“Or the truth,” Cal chips in.

“Where’s Cora?” I ask him, not bothering to greet him. We’re all sitting in Kai and my backyard. It connects to Cal’s on one side and Mav’s on the other. Willa is on the other side of Cal. We fenced in our yards all together instead of separating them.

“Napping. Dad is in the house with the monitor.” Cal used to complain that I didn’t even care that he was here anymore and only cared about Cora. He’s only partially correct. Cora is now a month old and the sweetest baby. She has Cal wrapped around her finger.

“It’s weird that you’re a dad,” Mav says.

“You say that every day,” I point out, laughing. He’s not wrong, but Cal is thriving as a dad. It’s like he was born just to be Cora’s.

With everything that went down with Brad and then the new baby, the studio gave us more time to work on the album. It doesn’t hurt that the guy who owns it is married to and obsessed with my cousin.

We all relax and joke with each other until my dad texts Cal that Cora is up from her nap. He bolts back to his house, and we all laugh at him. He’s convinced she’s going to forget him if she doesn’t see his face immediately after she wakes up.

I look over at Kai to see him frowning at his phone.

“What is it?” I ask him.

“Harrison Ray started on Ezra’s case last week,” he says. I nod. Kai has been good about keeping everyone up to date on that front. Plus, I live with the man and am with him all the time. Now I’m worried the frown is because we lost another PI.

“Did he quit too?” Willa asks, mirroring my thoughts.

“No. He found something.”
