My belly tightened as warmth spread through me.

He lifted me, his hands gripping my hips as I rode him. The strain along his mouth grew, our bodies moving and writhing together. His fingers tangled in my hair, and the need to own him, claim him, nearly overtook me.

We came together, the prince’s roar guttural as I cried out in ecstasy. I rode the waves, savoring every bit of the climax that he’d wrenched from me as the fire continued to crackle and warm my back while the fairy lights hummed.

And when we both came down from the high, he pulled me to him, our breaths mingling while his cock stayed buried deep inside me.

“I love you.” He kissed me tenderly. “My light. My wife. My eternal mate. My love. Myqueen.”

“And I, you. My darkness. My husband. My eternal mate. My king. We shall always have each other. No matter what the future brings.”

We sat like that for a while, enjoying the quiet and the feel of one another. The mate bond inside me hummed, burning brightly between our connected souls.

I eventually lifted myself and straightened my clothing and hair before wiping away the essence of our lovemaking with my cleansing magic.

“Hungry?” I asked my mate.

He nodded. “Famished.”

But I didn’t get a chance to ring the golden cord by his bed. In the other room, the door burst open, and then we heard Nuwin, Cailis, my parents, my friends, all of the prince’s guards, and his personal servants fill the space.

We quickly walked into his living area to find them all grinning and bursting in happiness.

“Is there a reason you’ve all barged in here, into my private chambers, when I could have been in the middle of making love to my wife?” Norivun asked dryly, yet his tone held no malice, merely amusement.

My father cleared his throat, flushing at the prince’s comment, but Nuwin merely beamed.

The younger prince fell into a bow before everyone behind him did the same.

My heart began to race, and I eyed the clock. The voting had closed. If the magical system in place had worked as flawlessly as the fae who created it claimed it would, then it was possible a decision had been reached.

I threaded my fingers through Norivun’s. Hope pounded in my chest.

Norivun stood entirely immobile, not even his chest lifting with breaths.

Nuwin raised his head and gave us a cheeky smile. “All hail the new king and queen of the Solis continent. King Norivun and Queen Ilara. Let a new era of reign begin!”

CHAPTER 32 - NORIVUN

Ilara and I stood on the shores of northern Mervalee, the crashing waves from the Brashier Sea pounding against the shore. Behind us, the music and celebrations continued. We were finally celebrating our eternal marriage with all of our family and friends. We’d invited as many fae as had wanted to attend. Every single fairy on the Solis continent had been invited to celebrate their king and queen’s union, and the turnout had surpassed everything my mate and I had dreamed of. Thousands and thousands of fae were in attendance.

“They truly want you to be their queen, my wife,” I said teasingly as I stroked a finger along Ilara’s cheek.

She shivered and ducked her head. The moonlight caught on the nightill flowers woven through her crown, the flowers holding a special meaning since it had been on the southern tip of her territory that we’d claimed one another and sealed our mating bond.

“And they wantyouto be their king.” She kissed me slowly, suggestively, and I was about to start looking for a hidden cove along the shore in which I could properly and thoroughly fuck my wife when a brush of something pierced my Shield, and then filled my mind.

“Norivun.”

I stilled.

Ilara pulled back, the same rigidness consuming her. Her magic subtly shifted around her when her Shield also lowered, and then she gasped. “Did you hear that?”

My heart began to pound. I whipped my head left and right. The party raged behind us. All of my guards, Ilara’s family, Nuwin, Finnley, Birnee, Meegana, Beatrice, Balbus and Marcina, Patrice, Haisley, Daiseeum, Ilara’s entire village, and every other friend Ilara had made during the Trial danced and drank, their smiles and boisterous conversations drifting through the air.

But nothing looked out of place.

I ran a hand along the back of my neck, shaking my head. I was imagining things. I had to be. “I don’t know what that was.”
