“Exactly. He said he’d help me, took a gummy, and then fell right to sleep,” Ryan says and then scowls at me. “Now you’re here so you can help me, you big ole shit,” he murmurs and then pulls on my ear a little before getting back to the customers.

So I get to work, my grandpa snorting awake a short time later and trying to micromanage us but just aiding in the chaos.

“The carrots belong with the cucumbers, not those heathen zucchinis!”

“The milk needs a friend. It’s lonely. Buy two!”

“Not the onions. They taste like ass.”

But the entire time I’m managing the stand and my grandpa’s gone rogue, my mind keeps going back to kissing Braxton. The way his lips looked wrapped around that honey stick, the way his tongue lapped at it. Seems I should have gone for that blow job after all. Seems the frantic hand jobs I’ve given myself since that night haven’t taken care of the need building up within me.

It’s close to boiling.

I’m gonna bubble over pretty soon.

“Thinking about your boo?” Ryan whispers in my ear and makes me jump. I fumble with a carton of eggs and glower at him for a second. Then a smile slips onto my face because I can’t even pretend to be mad. Ryan is just too damn silly.

“Maybe,” I reply because I’m not giving him more than that. Ryan is just jumping to conclusions right and left, despite notknowing anything Braxton and I have done. Not that I’d tell him about those kisses. Doesn’t seem like anyone else’s business, quite frankly.

Seems like no one’s but my own.

“Why did he take off?” Ryan asks, and I shrug as I help some more customers. It’s nearing the end of the market and people are starting to close and clean up.

“He got a call,” I say, not telling him more than that. Ryan is the worst secret keeper. I’m not telling him a damn thing. Because if I do, the next thing I know the entire town will be in on it.

Every last one of them. So I keep my lips sealed.

Ryan glances at me and rolls his eyes. “I only told the barber one thing…”

“You told him enough and then before I knew it people were whispering about me throughout town.”

“No, they were not.”

I arch an eyebrow at him and fold my arms across my chest. “They all knew I had a wet dream, Ryan. You told them all.”

“Pfft, it’s natural. It’s biological.”

“You’re not to be trusted,” I murmur, and Ryan sighs.

“Fine, but I’ll find out sooner or later. I have my ways.”

I’m sure he does, but I’m not giving him a thing. And before he can pester me about it further, Beck makes an appearance, two kids in tow.

“Oh, look who it is. The cheesemongers! Hi there,” Ryan says with a wiggle of his fingers, the customer he was helping completely forgotten as he saunters over to Beck and his two kids, Bella and Jace. He pokes at Beck’s chest and then leans down to talk to his kids. I can’t hear what he’s saying, but I can see the way that Beck’s face softens as he watches my stepbrother.

Beck lost his wife to cancer a few years back and has been raising his two kids on his own. Bella is eight and Jace is ten and both are doing really well, considering all they’ve been through. And they really seem to have taken a liking to Ryan.

Suddenly, two large suckers materialize in Ryan’s hand and he holds them out to the kids, who beam at him. When he stands once more, ruffling the kids’ hair, Beck is looking a little…smitten?

Well damn, what the hell is going on?

But I don’t have time to ponder it because my grandpa hits me in the back with his cane and tells me to get back to work.

I just let out a low laugh and do as he says until we’re finally done and packed up.

I glance down at my phone as we all drive home, hoping that Braxton has messaged me, but I’m not surprised when I don’t see anything on my screen.

Probably scared him off by offering him nudes. Not that I’d ever do that…I think. I adjust my hard cock as I drive down the dirt road that leads to my house and let out a sigh. Seems another handy is on the schedule for me.
