He doesn’t. Just sticks his tongue out and snags the last bit of food before standing up.

“Another round of beers and then darts, what do you say?”

Well, I won’t say no to that. I love darts, and I happen to be real good at them.

Braxton not so much, it seems.

He keeps hitting the wall and frowning. So I sidle up real close to him, my front to his back, and show him how to aim. I get all sorts of distracted when he wiggles against me, turning his head so his lips brush my neck.

I kinda wanna take him home and make love to him. Want to do all sorts of things to him. But it’s too soon to drive after those beers, and we don’t have Uber here. That’s not a thing. So, I need to sober up before we make any other plans.

“I need a lot of work,” Braxton says, looking a bit sad that he keeps missing the target.

“It doesn’t matter. Darts is dumb anyways.”

Even as I say that, Beck hits the bullseye blindfolded—well, with Ryan’s hands over his eyes.

“It is dumb,” Braxton says and then we both grin goofily at one another. He’s so cute when he smiles. I promise to live my days making those lips of his pull up.

I want him happy. Always.

“How about we dance instead?” I say, and Braxton eyes me.

“We just got done dancing. Aren’t you tired?”

“Not if it means I can hold you. I could do that all day.”

“Jesus,” Braxton murmurs, looking flustered, but he still pulls me out onto the dancefloor. The twang of country music plays around us as he just leans into my chest, and I cradle him, swaying back and forth. We’re both still buzzed, and I feel like I’m wrapped in a warm blanket. I never want this night to end.

But unfortunately it does when Ryan comes crashing into us, climbing onto my back and biting down on my neck.

“You two love birds are making me jealous,” he says, and I try to get him off, but he just clings.

“Get off me,” I grunt, and Braxton rolls his eyes as he watches this go down. He seems less bothered by it than the last time, which is good news.

Braxton has to know I only have eyes for him. And none of those gazes have ever strayed to Ryan.

“Ryan, get off him,” Beck says, a stern command that has Ryan freezing and glancing over at his friend.

“Excuse you?” he says, and I can feel Ryan’s dick hardening against my back.

Holy mother of oats, I don’t wanna feel that.

I use his momentary distraction to peel him from my back, and he stumbles into Beck’s waiting arms.

He’s looking up at his friend like he’s never seen him before, and I wonder what’s going on in his head—what kind of revelation.

Sort of like when Braxton first laid his lips on mine.

I was obsessed. My world shifted on its axis, and I was done for.

I just didn’t know it yet.

And neither did he.

“Wanna go for a walk and sober up?” I ask, and Braxton nods, the two of us heading outside and down Main Street. Except for the music coming from the bar, it’s quiet out. Everyone’s gone back home and to bed. But not us. We just lean into each other, stopping every few feet to kiss, to stoke the fire that’s already started within us.

When we finally sober up, I bring him back to my place and strip him down. We kiss as he pushes his way inside of me, slow and gentle, his body trembling above mine.
