“My brother likes you,” Silas informed me. “And he doesn’t usually like anyone.”

‘Huh, I’d never have guessed’I thought. I wasn’t sure where this conversation was going but my interest had been piqued.

“So, I’m going to go out on a limb and let you in on something because my brother trusts you,” Silas continued.

Now I was intrigued, wondering where this was going.

“Okay,” I agreed, “what information do you have that I need to know?”

Without any warning, he reached out and took hold of my shoulder. His hand tightened, and his eyes turned white, the words out of his mouth shook me to my core. Although it wasn’tso much the words as the way he delivered them,‘Your path is diverging, should you not take the right path, your happiness will end. Learn from your light and embrace what you are being offered. Love comes in many forms.’

He abruptly let go of me and stepped back.

His eyes returned to normal. That was seriously fucking weird. Not that I didn’t believe in some people having certain abilities. I’d been in the military long enough to know that when your gut told you something was off, then something was off. And I’d lived with Ellie for nearly a year and what that little girl knew and saw firmly had me believing in weird shit.

Just never expected it to come from a giant that I didn’t know except in passing. Added to the fact that I had no clue what any of it meant, other than it seemed to be a warning of sorts. I wasn’t feeling happy about any of it.

“I’m not sure what any of that meant,” I told him.

“I know,” he replied, “but when it starts happening, you will. I see two outcomes and the one doesn’t fill me with happiness. I hope that you take the right path because if you don’t, everything you are building will wither away.”

“What do you mean?” I demanded.

“I can’t tell you more; you need to make the decisions. I can give you some advice, though. When you are uncertain you need to trust in your wife, she’ll show you the way,” Silas assured me.

‘What the ever-loving fuck was going to happen?’

Dropping that last bit of wisdom, he got on his bike and with chin lifts from all of them, they pulled out of the parking and onto the road, disappearing into the distance. I was stuck frozen to the pavement outside my shop, that’s where Avy found me.

“Hey, babe, are you, okay?” she queried, coming to a stop next to me.

Shaking off the warning, I smiled at my wife, replying, “Yeah, Sweets. Sorry I’m running late.”

“You’re not late, we just weren’t sure what was happening with the giants that were sitting waiting for you. It seemed serious. We could see you from the café window,” Avy gestured to the windows of the café just up the road from my shop. The brotherhood was standing waiting, Bull and Navy were outside the doors as if they’d been ready for me to call them. It made me feel better that they were around after hearing the cryptic message from Silas.

I waved at them and got a chin lift in return, then they turned and entered the café. I cupped my palms around Avy’s cheeks, and smiled at her, “I’m good, Sweets,” I promised. “I’ll tell you about it later. For now, I’m starving. Let’s eat and then we’ll head home and have a lazy day. Yeah?”

Avy beamed a wide smile at me, “Yeah, sounds perfect.”

I should have known that it wasn’t going to be as easy as that. As soon as we took our seats and started filling our plates everyone was demanding to know what the giants as they started calling the four nomads wanted.

Giving in I told them of the weird warning that Silas had given me and that I didn’t have a clue what it meant. Trust Ellie to break it down for me in simple form.

“It’s easy, Uncle Hawk. Something is coming, it could be good or bad depending on how you handle it. And you need to listen to Aunt Avy and do what she says and all will be good. Don’t worry, it will all be fine. We’ll help,” she said matter-of-factly, looking at me with clear blue eyes.

The table was silent as they looked at her. She smiled at me, “It will be fine, I promise. You just need to open your heart.”

With that parting bit of insight, she casually went back to eating her breakfast obviously feeling like her job was done.

Reaper and Abby were watching their daughter. I know they worried about her. For now, she seemed fine. Abby would touch base with Ellie during the day as she usually did to make sure all was good in her daughter's world.

I’d instantly felt lighter at Ellie’s words. “Whatever is coming, we’ll deal with it as we usually do,” Reaper confirmed with a firm stare in my direction. “Together.”

I nodded in confirmation that I was hearing him loud and clear, “Together,” I agreed relaxing back in my seat.

Little did I know we’d be dealing with it before the end of the day.

We’d just finished eating and had started cleaning up when a brand-new white Mercedes pulled up in front of the café.
