“Oh, fuck,” I muttered, my cheeks heating slightly. Grabbing my bag, I pulled an envelope from out of its depths.

Taking a deep breath, I handed it to Hawk, rubbing my hands nervously down my thighs, although why I was nervous, I had no clue. I knew Hawk wanted more children, but this one was a bit of a surprise as I was still on the pill but apparently having strep throat and taking antibiotics cancelled out your pill. Who knew?

Opening the envelope, he pulled out the black and white scans. His entire body stilled as he looked at them, then at me, before looking back at the scans.

“Is this what I think it is?” he asked softly.

“Yes,” I confirmed, nodding my head.

Hawk slipped off the couch, shoving the coffee table away, pushing my thighs apart enough so that he could fit between them as he knelt on the floor between my legs. Pushing my shirt up and pulling the waist of my skirt down to get to my exposed belly.

Bending, he pressed a gentle kiss to the hard swell. Lifting his head, he looked at me and there were tears in his eyes. I blinked hard at his next words, trying to hold back my emotions but knowing it was a wasted cause, “Thank you, Avy. After Rachel and Mike, I gave up, thinking that relationships weren’t worth the pain. I pushed having a family out of my head. And then, there you were, waiting for me. And I knew then that what I’d had with her wasn’t the real thing.”

“The first time I saw you, I knew you were mine. Spending time with you has always been one of my greatest pleasures. I couldn’t wait to marry you so much so that I had to take control to ensure it happened. I love seeing you with my name on your cut even though the club voted it isn’t needed. I love the fact that you don’t seem to care that I need to mark you as mine so that every man knows you belong to me. Same as I proudly wear the badge saying I belong to you.”

“Then Kaleb came into our lives, and you took him straight into your heart and loved him. Loved both him and me, even when I was being an arse struggling to accept him. You had enough faith in me to know I’d eventually get my head out of my arse. When he was taken, I thought it was my punishment for not loving him from the start.”

“Oh, Hawk,” I whispered softly, wiping a tear of his cheek, “you never said anything.”

He shook his head, “No, because I was so angry at myself for not loving him from the start.”

Cupping his face in my hands, I told him, “You were allowed to feel like you did. They betrayed you and Kaleb was the reminder, but I also knew that you’d come to love him because you have a big heart. You don’t see it but the rest of us do.”

Hawk closed his eyes, turning his head and pressing a kiss to my wrist, before opening them again, the love blazing from them had me catching my breath and any hope of holding onto my tears was lost when he continued, “I love you so much, Avs. I know I don’t always say the words, but I want you to know that I love you with all that I am. And now. Now you’re giving me something even more precious than I ever expected. Another person to love.”

“Oh, Hawk,” I cried out, bursting into tears, shoving my head into his shoulder, crying. I didn’t say anything as he moved us around. When I finally stopped bawling my eyes out at his sweet words, he’d moved us both onto the couch with me sitting on his lap. Handing me a serviette that had come with our lunch, I dried my tears and blew my nose. Taking a deep breath, I tilted my head up and smiled tremulously up at him, proclaiming softly, “You complete me.”

Hawk lowered his head to kiss me. We didn’t leave his office for a long time, when we did, we found the shop had been locked and there was a note from Kelly on the door that she’d re-arranged all this evening’s clients as she thought we could do with some time together.

I smiled when I read the note. Hawk just shook his head in amusement as we set the alarm, leaving the shop. I kept him on his bike in my rearview mirror all the way home.

Two weeks later, I took him with me for my next scan, and he cried again when were told it was a girl.

When our baby girl was six months old, we again had tears running down our cheeks this time with laughter as we stared at the technician in disbelief, who assured me that, yes, I was definitely four months pregnant and it was a boy.

“Holy fuck,” Hawk whispered in disbelief, “we’re going to have three babies under the age of five.”

Snorting with laughter at the look on his face, the technician must have thought we were nuts by this point.

“Just as well we have a village,” I pointed out.

His shoulders had slumped in relief at my words, “You’re right,” he stuttered out wiping tears of laughter from his eyes.

Imagine our surprise when five months later during labour when not one but two babies arrived. Our youngest daughter had been hiding behind her much bigger brother the whole time. I guess it was too much for my husband because when I’d finally pushed the last baby out and looked for him, he was lying on the floor passed out.

I’d laughed hysterically and ordered a midwife to take a picture, which I’d promptly sent to the rest of the MC once I was feeling up to it.

He’d taken his ribbing good-naturedly. He was a fantastic dad, hands on with all our children. We stopped after four; I don’t think either of us would have had any hair left if we’d had more.

Our easiest was Kaleb, he always had been, and I think he always would be. I loved that boy to the depths of my soul. All our children had the signature black hair and green eyes that were prevalent in Hawk’s lineage. Our boys were both good looking, but oh my word, our girls … our girls were gorgeous.

I had a feeling their teen years were going to be trying for their dad, brothers, and uncles.

I couldn’t wait.
