“Loyalty. To madame. She is the matriarch. We are all loyal,” he gasps drowning on his blood. “More will come.”

“Fuck.” My shout makes her jump. “Sorry.” I bow to her then again and again. “Sorry for failing to keep you safe. For dragging you into my family’s mess. Please forgive me.”

As I say the words rage from a thousand days pours through me like a legendary river of lava from Mount Fuji.

“What happened?” My brother and cousin burst through the door.

“One of mother’s minions.” Giving a negligent wave of my hand I indicate the loyal retainer I’ve had for the last thirty years.

“I never really liked him,” comes the soft voice from the bed. Which brings forth a rare low chuckle from the two killers beside me.

“He said more are coming.” I meet The Takeda’s eyes.

“Indeed?” he asks his voice deadly. I nod.

“It seems we need to pay mother a visit,” Kiyoshi says, all emotion wiped from his voice.

“Iie,” I tell him. He had his chance. “I go alone.”

The gardensof our family estate have been neglected. I wonder if she did it out of spite because they always brought my sister so much joy. After what she pulled with Krie, Kana won’t speak to her. Kiyoshi and I worried what impact living with her on Akchiro estate had on our younger sister. Yet, Kana remained a delightful kind girl, who is now enjoying her life at university.

“I knew you would come,” my mother says looking up from the watercolor she’s painting. Her eyes are dead. Psychopath she is not. Malignant narcissist? Yes.

I never felt love from her only disdain. When my mathematical skills brought accolades that was the only time, she showed any interest in me. Otherwise, I was my father’s to deal with.

“Your brother had his chance. That American has made him weak. I really think he cares for her.” She laughs like that is the most ludicrous thing in the world. “Such disappointments. At least there is Kana. Well, when I bring her back into the fold.”

“Kana is lost to you. I hear she’s been spending time with an Al – Rasheed’s cousin.” I smirk seeing the rice powder on her cheek stain crimson underneath.

“What?” She snaps, gripping the brush so hard it vibrates. Then like magic her expression cools. “You and your brother are useless just like your worthless father.” Shrugging one shoulder she turns back to her painting.

“I suppose you’re here to kill me?” Laughter low and mean emanates from her entire body. “I guess it was inevitable once you discovered the truth about your incarceration.” More laughter but his time with sheer delight. “The fact that I madeyou hate her for it was like dessert. I’d hope you kill her, but know you became enamored again threatening to spoil our line with more defectives like yourself and halfu on top.” Scoffing she turns eyes full of hatred on me. “Three miscarriages to ensure it didn’t happen. There will be none of your spawn ever if you let me live. Yet, like your weak brother. I know you won’t.” She tuts turning her back to me.

“Your words have never meant anything to me Mother yet knowing Father did not betray me has given me peace. As for Taylor she has filled those empty ravaged places inside of me your hired tormentors wrought.” The Tatsumoto assassin my brother, cousin, and I agreed to do the job steps out of a thicket of brushes but I shake my head in the negative.

I always knew it would be me.

“Allow me,” Hecajoles.

“I got it,” I say aloud, startling my mother along with the sing of the Katana right before I slice her throat.

Taylor ~ Weeks later..

“It’s quiet out here,”I tell him, kicking my feet in the pond. It’s warm enough for us to enjoy being outside but only just.

“Not if you keep splashing and talking,” he grumbles, face turned up to the sun. He likes it despite me having to drag him out of that tomb of an office of his as he coded in new algorithms for new Creative Chaos software.

“Well eat something then,” I say, handing him a cornbread muffin.

“They are too sweet,” complaining around a mouthful, he narrows his gaze on me before turning his face back to the sun.

“How can you be so gross and cute at the same time?” I ask, leaning in to kiss a crumb on the corner of his mouth away.

Stilling for a moment his head swings back in my direction. Giving me a hard look shifting away, his long body folds forward as he discreetly adjusts his erection.
