“Well, you were right.” I raise my hand when he shifts. “We just got here and we need to still relearn each other like you said. It doesn’t have to be ten years. I can have it removed anytime. Just not right now.” Getting on my tips toes, I press my lips to his.

Finding out his mother was behind my miscarriages caused a shift in his perspective. Really listening to his concerns about us need time to relearn each other and navigate this relationship changed mine.

“Maybe in a couple years.” Touching his forehead to mine, he says.

‘Definitely,” I smile.

Later after thecelebration that nearly had Hisashi climbing the walls and a kinbaku session the help him decompress were cuddling looking at the Sydney Skyline. My phone starts buzzing.

“Who is it? Your family needs to learn about time differences.” He grumbles in my hair.

“Says the fella who talks to his brother at all times of day and night.”Shrugging his arm off, I grab my phone my eyes rounding at the text.

Kandie: Sorry I couldn’t make it cuz, this dirty ass cop locked me up and I just escaped. TLL.

“Babe.” I turn to Hisashi showing him the text.

“Hmm?” He mumbles sitting up then reads the text and starts laughing.

“What is going on with Kandie and Ulysses Shelby?” My heart is speeding up because our families are mortal enemies.

“A lot and not our business.” He says, placing the phone back on the nightstand. “They will work out their toxic shit just like we worked out ours.”

“Ohh.” Instantly, getting his point. Well meaning and bad actors alike had cost us a lot of time. “It was hard but we did work it out.”

I kiss the tip of his nose. “But worth it.”

“So worth it,” he agrees.

His eyes feather close, his insomnia and my night terrors a thing of the past.

THE END
