Your Highness? That was something I’d never expected to be called in my life. “Do you mind turning around?”

She laughed and held the dress out, not budging. When I stayed submerged, she frowned and said, “Wait. You’re serious.”

“Uh. Yeah.”

Lilidh’s forehead creased. “That’s so odd. Fae are proud of their bodies.”

Yeah, I bet they were. Every one of them I’d seen so far was gorgeous. “I like privacy.”

“I hate to tell you this, but I’ll need to help you into this dress.” She cringed. “So, you don’t have an option this time.”

Wanting to end the conversation, I sighed and did as I was told. The magic water disappeared from the tub and my body, leaving my skin glowing and smooth.

I wanted to retrieve my knife, but not with Lilidh standing there. I’d have to leave it behind.

I couldn’t swallow around the lump in my throat.

The next few minutes were torture. The dress was more comfortable than I’d expected, fitting loosely. Its green material hung to midarm, the skirt done in a mermaid cut. The front of the skirt blended into a deep, beautiful orange with flowers at the hem. Enid and Cara joined us, and the women forced me to wear green heels made of vines, which were oddly comfortable. Cara worked on my hair.

When they were finished, they walked me to a corner of the bathroom, where a tall mirror stood next to a small vanity that housed hair supplies. My strawberry-blonde hair was piled onto my head, with tendrils curling around my face. My green eyes seemed brighter, and my lips were a deep red even though I had no makeup on.

And I had pointed ears.

What the actual fuck. I stroked the tip, expecting it to slice my finger, but it was soft and bendable, just like my ears back on Earth. Whew.

I didn’t even look like the same person. That magic had done wonders.

“Now it’s time for you to go.” Enid went to the bathroom door. “Cara, prepare for her return, and Lilidh, clean up the mess.”

I glanced around the bathroom, wondering what mess she meant.

We walked through the bedroom and down a hallway, and I truly felt like I was in another world. The walls were covered with grass and flowers, and trees lined the walk. Huge chandeliers hung every ten feet, their bright light making the space more magical.

“Are you coming?” Enid asked, her hands on her hips.

I hadn’t realized I’d stopped walking.

A deep chuckle came from behind me. “Don’t worry, Enid. I can take her from here.”

The voice was all too familiar, and chills coursed down my back. I tensed, ready to fight the man I now hated most in the entire world.

Chapter Three

Ispun around and nearly tripped on the damn three-inch heels, expecting to face Casino Guy. Forming a fist, I prepared to throw a punch … and faltered.

The person in front of me resembled the man from the casino, but he was way more handsome. His face seemed more angular, and his ears were pointed and sticking out from underneath his hair. Even his grassy scent was more intoxicating.

I clenched my teeth. I wanted to make the bastard pay for what he’d done.

My plans for vengeance were brewing, and I wished I’d retrieved my knife so I could use it. It’d be nice to make him bleed for the shit he’d pulled.

My hands would get the point across.

A cocky grin spread across his mouth, resembling his smile at the bar.

Game on. This was definitely Drug Guy.

“Now this is the Alina I’m familiar with.” He moved quickly, cupping my cheek with his abnormally soft hand. “That pig outfit was atrocious. Even Winter fae would rather be dead than caught in that.”
