“Current Danni wants to not feel so awkward saying these things,” she muttered, running her hands over her forehead, over her hair, and holding onto the sides of her neck before she let her arms come down.

“I told you I would keep you safe. From Markus, from yourself. That includes me. If you give me a line, I won’t cross it,” I said, coaxing her. “But you do have to say the words.”

She pressed her lips together and groaned, taking her time before she finally spoke again. “No sex. No anal. That’s a hard line.”

I nodded, shifting my seating position as my length stiffened. My mind immediately went to imagining her writhing in pleasure.

“Fingers, mouth, tongue, I’m good with.” She blew out a breath, shaking her shoulders and straightening her body.

“Toys? Cuffs? Bondage?”

Her eyes grew wide. “I hadn’t . . . um, I don’t know, no, and maybe?”

“Choking, knife play, clamps?”

“Kind of heavy for a first date, don’t you think?” she quipped.

“I like to plan ahead,” I responded, tapping my temple.

“Hard pass on metal objects. But you should talk to my sister,” she said.

“I don’t want your sister,” I said. She shot me a look, and I grinned, fangs hanging over my lips.

“Oh, and no biting.” She winced, an apologetic look crossing her features.

I inclined my head. “That’s a given,” I said. “But it’s always worth stating out loud.”

“Do you have any thoughts?” she asked, her brows pinching together.

“About what I’m going to do to you?” I teased. “Absolutely.”

She smacked my arm. “Be serious.”

“I am being serious. Would it be better or worse for you to know that I find this entertaining?” I propped my elbow up on the armchair, resting my cheek on my fist while I watched her.

She huffed. “I’m not entirely sure at this point. It might be one of the most bizarre conversations I’ve ever had. And you find it funny.”

I shrugged. “Your innocence is showing, and it’s honestly adorable.”

“I’m not that innocent,” she argued, annoyance filling her tone. I couldn’t help but chuckle, and she sighed. “Okay, I don’t have a lot of sexual history to go on here, so it’s just weird having such a straightforward conversation about consent when it’s so . . . detailed.”

“Details are good. They tell your partner what you want”—I flicked my eyes down, following the length of her body—“and where you want it. How you want it. Makes for a much better experience.” I held her gaze until her cheeks tinged pink.

“I do know that much is true,” she replied, her voice scratching as the words came out. “This is going to be new for me. Being in heat, I mean. Are you okay with this, Elias? For real? I’m going to scream for more. Beg you. Demand it, probably.” Her voice wavered, struggling to keep her composure as she laid out how it would go. “But what I say while in heat isn’t real. I know what I’m asking of you, and it seems unfair. I just want to make sure you’re okay with it.”

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to it,” I replied. “And I don’t find it unfair.”

Her eyes flicked down to the bulge that was showing beneath my pants. “I’d disagree.”

I lifted a shoulder in a side shrug, though the pulsing between my legs was distracting. “This is about you. I’m a man of my word.”

Danni tilted her head, lifting an eyebrow, smirking. “Then I suppose I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to seeing what that looks like.”

I chuckled. This woman. This pretend mate of mine. She played flirtatious games with me as much as I played them in return. Playful banter could be just that, but knowing what was about to happen, I hoped it was more.

I wanted her. Gods, I wanted her.

“If you’re feeling the effects now, I’ll have the boy locked away. You should go. Keep yourself in our room. Take a bath. Relax. You’ll be safe with me.” I stood up, leaning over her, resting my hands on the arms of the chair and caging her. Her breath hitched as I closed in. “The heat might make you want these things. It might make you feel things you wouldn’t otherwise. But everything I’m going to do to you? What I’m going to make you feel when you come?” I nipped at her lips, smiling against her mouth, lowering my voice as I spoke. “That’s going to be real.”
